When I started back in June of 08 after letting things go for a while, I was at my heaviest weight, around 230 pounds. I was tired of my big body. It stopped me from skiing a full day, drained me of energy and generally made me look and feel older. Not to mention, my waist was almost 40 inches and I wasn't happy about that!
Well it wasn't easy - nothing worth achieving is - but after doing three rounds p90x, including two without skipping a day (something I am proud of), I'm down several inches in my belly and around 50 pounds with some growth in my arms, chest and upper body. My wife and friends have commented on my "V" look now. I'm feeling good and definitely improved my attitude and stamina. I've completed P90x several rounds, P90x+, Insanity which was as hard as anything I've done and a mix of hybrid workouts including Tony Horton 1-1s.
I have much more complimentary wardrobe now, am feeling great and my health has vastly improved. My resting heart rate is down around 20-25 from prior, measured recently on a well-deserved vacation at 48 bpm - down from 78 pre-p90x! As shown by my fitness test numbers, my HR is much harder to get into the high zone and recovers much more quickly, which is a great sign of overall cardiovascular fitness.
Beachbody programs have rejuvenated me and gotten me down to a healthier weight, and better body fat percentage. When I measured I was up around 22%. I wanted to be down 25 pounds and 10% in 6 months. I surpassed that, achieving my first goal in half the time! I also sleep better and I'm generally less stressed out. My BP, which was on the high range at times, is back in a low healthy range.
I blew away my cholesterol test again this year for my physical in October which I usually cringe about taking. This program has really worked for me and obviously does if you stick to it as I have done. My doctor even mentions me to his residents as a great example of a transformation into a healthier lifestyle. I had been a candidate for Lipitor and other meds which I am not any longer. One of my motivating goals is to get as far away as possible from the old big body I started with on day 0. It's been a great experience, I love the results and spirit of everyone involved and I plan to repay that as a coach!
Recently I also had a blood lipids (cholesterol) screening with my yearly physical. Not only was my weight down, but my numbers were among the best ever, comparable to what I had in college:
