My name is Carrie and I LOVE being a Beachbody Coach! Somewhere in my college years fitness stopped being a part of my life and my weight has fluctuated ever since. Having 3 kids in just over 3 years also seemed to be a challenge for my body to adjust. The weight came off slowly after the first child, quickly after the 2nd child, and then the slowest after the 3rd. Most of the weight came off My name is Carrie and I LOVE being a Beachbody Coach! Somewhere in my college years fitness stopped being a part of my life and my weight has fluctuated ever since. Having 3 kids in just over 3 years also seemed to be a challenge for my body to adjust. The weight came off slowly after the first child, quickly after the 2nd child, and then the slowest after the 3rd. Most of the weight came off after my 3rd child, but not all. Then, a few months after my 30th birthday, I noticed that my jeans were getting tougher to button & my shirts seemed a little shorter...finally in May 2007 I hit my heaviest point & was back into my "fat jeans" that I wore after giving birth! I even considered wearing some maternity clothes that I still had!!! There was also a picture of me at my son's 4th birthday party in May that I didn't even recognize myself! At that moment I made the decision to DO something about it. I was tired of being tired and having hardly any energy to play with my kids, and I was tired of making excuses. My husband was leaving for 6 weeks for the military so I planned for my transformation while he was gone so I could surprise him when he got home. The only problem, and the problem there always was prior to this, was I felt so guilty doing something for me! I felt guilty leaving my kids so I could go workout. I finally came to my senses & realized the most important thing - this was NOT just for me! This was for my kids, my family - they all need mom to be healthy so she can be there for them in every way that counts! I ended up losing around 20 pounds the 6 weeks my husband was gone & I loved seeing the look on his face when he saw me! It was almost like meeting for the first time again! Now we workout together and it has become a part of our family. Our children see us working out, eating healthy, and making this important lifestyle a priority!
In September 2008 I was introduced to a fitness class at the new local gym we had joined...Turbo Kick! WOW! It was love at first class & I was hooked! After a couple of months of going to class, my body started changing even more - my arms started to tone up and my torso area, especially around my rib cage, was noticeably smaller! All this just from adding the class to my fitness routine!!
We moved to Florida and unfortunately the closest gym to the base my husband was stationed at was about 45-50 minutes away. I then turned to Beachbody & ordered the Turbo Jam DVDs right away to keep up with some sort of fitness schedule. I moved back to Washington in September 2008 and was eager to get back to my gym and a normal fitness routine. In October, I got certified to be an instructor for Turbo Kick and have been teaching TK classes, BOSU Core, Total Body Conditioning & Hip Hop since then. I absolutely love teaching and love helping people achieve their goals! I think I get more excited for someone's success story than they do!! Because of my transformation, I now feel that this is one of my purposes in life - to help people live a healthy lifestyle.
A special thanks goes to my husband, who has his own transformation story, but for years he always encouraged me to start some sort of fitness routine...asking me to go on walks, asking if I wanted to join a gym...just always a little something in the nicest way. Without his support and him ALWAYS telling me that I was worth it, I'm not sure I would be where I am today. I just wish I would have listened sooner!!!!

As I stated above, my transformation journey started a few years ago. While my husband was away, I started going to a gym on base that had it set up for parents to work out while they watched their own children. There was a half plexiglass wall so you could see your children & treadmills & ellipticals set up right outside the wall along with some weight machines. I started going 3 times a week & just doing the elliptical for 20 minutes & working my way up to longer amounts of time and more days. I also calorie counted being pretty strict & sticking to under 1200 calories; however, if I wanted a little treat, I just calculated it into my calorie count. (I still think treats are fine as long as it is in moderation!!! That means I still eat cake at my kid's birthday parties or at a wedding!!!) My biggest weakness was/is pizza! I love an ooey, gooey slice of pizza! The change I made was getting a salad with it & filling up on mostly that & having 1 slice of pizza instead of 4 or 5! It's great now because there is actually wheat crusts pizzas & I have found recipes for healthy pizzas! I also ate a lot of protein - chicken, egg whites, some steak and added veggies in too. I even occasionally ate Toaster Strudels for breakfast, just counted them into my daily calorie allowance! Now that I have been living healthier for awhile, I don't even buy Toaster Strudels anymore. My kids eat a healthy cereal, oatmeal or a whole wheat english muffin & I do the same!! At the end of the 6 weeks my husband & I were apart, I actually had to go shopping to get some new clothes! Nothing felt better than getting rid of the "fat jeans"! I wanted to burn them to make sure they stayed far, far away from me!!
One of the things that I want to let parents know is that deciding to live a healthy lifestyle is not just for you, but for your kids. With childhood obesity on the rise, it is even more important than ever to make a change! You can do it & I know this because if I can do it, pretty much anyone can!!! I will help in any way that I can!!
