My journey started about a year and a half ago. I weighed 206 lbs. and lived a pretty sedentary lifestyle. In my youth I was very active, I played baseball and hockey and was into the martial arts, where I earned a Black Belt in Karate. As time went on and for one reason or another I stopped the majority of the activities that kept me active and I started packing on the pounds. I never gave any thought to what I was eating and just continued on down this road for a number of years.

One day, I was on the soccer field with my son and I remember trying to keep up with him and some of his team mates. I felt like my heart was going to explode; I decided at that point, I needed to make a change. I enrolled back into a martial arts program and started doing some light cardio work and over the next year I made some great strides, but I still wasn’t seeing or feeling that the changes were significant enough. I wasn’t well versed on the nutritional aspects of healthy living. I was under the impression that if I just worked out hard, by lifting a lot of weights and running mile after mile that all would be perfect. This was not the case. My cholesterol was still very high and I was still carrying more weight than I should for my frame.

The dramatic changes happened when I came across the BeachBody products, particularly P90X. P90X taught me how to eat correctly, not just what foods to eat, but how to eat as it relates to the types of workouts you perform. I learned that how complicated the body is and that it needs to be fueled properly. I learned that eating right can’t just be about dieting, it has to be a part of your life, and it takes a commitment to change and be consistent.

In total, I lost almost 50 lbs. and almost 20% body fat and I feel like I’m 21 again. If can do it, you can to!!! Be committed to your health and fitness, you deserve it!!!
