Hello, my name is Darrin Clauder. I am 33 years old, father of 2. My son Reece is 4 and my daughter Ava is 6 months old. I have been married for 8 years to Carey, my lovely wife, another beach body coach.
I have been at my current job for 14 years, where I am currently the Marketing Director for Combat Sports. We are the largest and still growing MMA Company (Cage Fighting) in the world. Our team of employees design, build and Market everything for the rest of our competitors to copy. Not many people can truly say that they love their job, I can!
I spend a lot of my free time designing and building custom furniture. I take great pride in my furniture website which features sports themed pieces for children. My son’s room is loaded with the coolest baseball pieces that can’t be found anywhere else in the world today. Someday, I hope to sell my designs so that they can be mass produced for some major retail stores.
One of my favorite hobbies is working out. I have been pretty consistent for the majority of my life when it comes to lifting weights. I started in my early teens and just liked the results I got from weights. I am currently trying to get myself and three other training partners into the best shape of our lives. Physically for me, I want to get my body fat down to 5% or less. My current diet is horrible and the main reason I purchased my P90X program. I had heard nothing but good things about the eating and supplement guide book and had to have it. I would like to maintain my current weight of 195 lbs. so I figure that I need lose about 20 lbs. of fat but gain it in the form of muscle. My top weight lifting goal has always been to bench press 405 lbs. I have been as close as 385 lbs a couple years ago but a shoulder injury put a stop to that. My shoulder is currently back to 100% and I should hit my mark by the end of 2008. Another very important goal for me is to build up my vertical so that I can easily dunk a basketball again. I spent years working on my vertical because I liked how it felt to be an average sized white guy that could throwdown. I haven’t dunked a ball since my 30th birthday a few years back but I am getting close again. I figure a couple more month of working my butt off to P90X DVD’s and watch out.
I am very competitive in everything I do, especially in sports. The ones at the top of my list are Basketball, Slow Pitch Softball, Racquetball, Tennis and Golf. If you can get out play hard and work up a good sweat then you can use this as a substitute for cardio, which I hate.
My favorite quote is from my father, a long as I can remember he has always told us kids that“2nd place is the first place loser” That may be harsh but I believe it to be true, as no one ever remembers the guy who finished second. I think that has pretty much where I get my drive to succeed at everything I do and this will be no different.
