I was always a chunky girl growing up. I remember looking at my body around age 11 and thinking "well, I guess that baby fat just isn't going away". Despite being involved in sports and eating healthy at home, I couldn't shake it. At 5'10", I wore it well, but I was never a thin or trim girl. This continued through high school. Once I got to college, the party lifestyle took over. I was active by walking everywhere, but that couldn't combat the cocktails. I went up another 20 lbs, putting me around 200. A few years later, I dyed my hair from blonde to dark brown (stay with me, there is a reason behind that fact!). I was about to attend a social function in which I wanted to impress. With my now dark hair, I wanted a brightly colored dress, as I love to contrast my hair with my clothes. I tried on dress after dress, but could not find a single colorful dress that made me look good. As a blonde, I wore black ALL the time, as I liked the contrast. I didn't realize that black became the only thing I could handle seeing my body in. Strangely enough, that was my turning point. I started going to the gym 5 days a week, mainly doing cardio. I ate a LOT better, cutting out all snacks and alcohol. Meals became "what is the healthiest thing for me?", not "what will taste the best?". After 3 months, I had lost 20 lbs but not a single pant size. I started running, a mile a day, at whatever pace was manageable. I dropped another 10 lbs BUT I finally lost some pant sizes! I went from a 16/18 to a 12. Since then, I maintained that weight loss for 3 years. In that time I moved to a new state, lived on my own for the first time ever, and lost the motivation to work out. After attending a yoga class with a friend, I found my motivation again :) I worked out and lost another 10 lbs, and am now in a size 10. I currently want to get down another 10 lbs, but more than that I want to get TONED! I have joined beachbody as a coach to motivate others as I continue my fitness journey!
