I have always thought of myself as active. I routinely hiked and ran - even did a number of half marathons where I felt that I had done pretty well. The one thing I had never paid any attention to was my diet. Pizza? Yep - weekly. Beer? Pretty much daily. I felt that I could eat all of these things based on my activity and get away with it.

October 2011. My wife and I are backpacking in the Grand Canyon. We have been there numerous times. This time, the trip out was terrible. I bonked. I could not catch my breath. I had no energy.
This is the point of time in my life where I decided that something needed to change. My wife had mentioned p90x prior and I had brushed her off. She tried to incorporate healthy eating habits in our home and I would bring home pizza and beer. Now was the time to do something.
We started P90X prior to Thanksgiving INTENTIONALLY to avoid some of the holiday eating pitfalls. We adhered to the nutrition plan and did not miss workouts. The results were absolutely incredible. I have lost 20 pounds and 4 pants sizes. I have more energy and am probably in the best shape of my life. It has been one heck of a ride and one incredible program.
I now am doing Insanity with my wife and see this as a major change in our lives. We will never go back to the way we were before.
