Sacramento, CA My name is Matthew Smith and I am a Beachbody coach. I am 28 years old and live in Northern California. I joined Beachbody to meet and network with other people who are enthusiastic about working out, setting goals, getting a sexy beach body, and nutritious eating. I want to socialize and network with people who have gone through the same struggles I went through but are now getting in unbelievable shape and RIPPED. I am a "recovering fat guy." I was always heavy in my youth, high school, and college. It hurt my social life, my self-esteem, and my overall well-being. I just ate all the bad stuff and drank beer a lot. I started to have high blood pressure at a young age. That's scary! I went to the gym and lifted heavy but never got the results I wanted. I just got big and not lean and ripped. I decided to take on P90X and LOVED IT! It's what I was looking for in my fitness regime and to better my life. I want to go from NOT to HOT, lean and mean, and just ripped and athletic. My goal is to get down to 7% body fat while maintaining my lean muscle. As an endomorph, I am able to gain strength and muscle fast but I really have to work hard to shred fat. I want to help other naturally big guys and gals out like me (endomorphs) break through plateaus and get into the type of shape they couldn't even dreamt of.
When I am not pushing play, working out, and "bringing it" I enjoy riding my bike, recreational sports, cooking, reading, and getting outside and exploring what the world has to offer. I plan on learning how to surf and how to rock climb.

Before starting Beachbody workouts, I was 230lbs. I had a gym membership and lifted weights but I was still out of shape. I ate horribly and ate too much. I decided to give P90X a try because I was More ...
Before starting Beachbody workouts, I was 230lbs. I had a gym membership and lifted weights but I was still out of shape. I ate horribly and ate too much. I decided to give P90X a try because I was tired of being fat and what I was doing, wasn't working. I decided to make the investment in the equipment needed and start my adventure. I fell in love with the workouts. A great mix of weight training, body weight training, and cardio is what I needed. I looked forward to pushing play. I was noticing the fat starting to come off and I was getting stronger. My effort starting paying dividends. That doesn't go without saying that I had hiccups and bumps in the road during my P90X journey. I didn't totally dial in my nutrition and caloric intake. There were times that I cheated on food or missed a workout. Those types of things hurt my progress and set me back. As someone who gains weight easily (endomorph) I couldn't afford to be eating junk and not working out. I also wasn't charting my progress, my weight, my body fat, or taking before and after photos. I just went straight into it. Those are decisions I later regret and wish I could do over. I got back on track, ate right, ate enough, and did my best. At the end of the 90 days, I came down to 185 and about 12-13% Body fat. I am continuing to improve each day and have really focused on my nutrition. 80% of your results come from nutrition and how well you feed your body. It took me a long time to learn and I want you to learn from mistakes. I want to teach you what it takes to succeed. I want to help you learn about yourself and body.
