Bonner Springs, KS I am married with two boys living in the Phoenix metro area. My interests are sports, music, and fitness. I really consider fitness a hobby and am very much dedicated to it. Speaking with others about fitness and nutrition is something I enjoy, and it's especially motivating when I'm able to help someone.
After trying several different workout programs over the last 15+ years, I finally found I am married with two boys living in the Phoenix metro area. My interests are sports, music, and fitness. After trying several different workout programs over the last 15+ years, I finally found one that really works in Beachbody’s P90X Extreme Home Fitness program. While several of the programs I’ve tried (some of which I created on my own) were fine from a workout standpoint, the key ingredient was either lacking or nonexistent – nutrition education. P90X really puts it all together in an easy to follow total program. It was an adjustment at the beginning like anything new you try, and I learned that I wasn’t necessarily doing everything wrong before. It was simply a matter of putting everything together, maintaining consistency, and further tweaking what I had been doing.
Each person must decide what their goals are and discover the inspiration to help achieve those goals. For me, I’ve always done some form of exercise, but I’d say there are two primary inspirations that drive me and won’t let me quit - my two sons, Kade and Dane. When Kade was born in 2002, I was 33 years old. Prior to his birth and after, I’d occasionally do some quick math – how old will I be when……? My goal from that day in March 2002 was to NOT become the Dad that was too out of shape to get out and play with my son whether it is running pass patterns, chasing balls he’s kicked or thrown out of my reach, or wrestling in the house. Now with two boys 19 months apart in age, it only adds to my desire.
I mentioned two primary inspirations. My kids are obviously one of those. Call it what you will – fear, anxiety, paranoia, concern, but with my Mother’s family’s medical history, I can’t help but think about life into my 50’s and above. On my Mother’s side of the family, both of her sisters and her Mother died of a type of cancer. Only her Mother made it into her 70’s. Exercising on a regular basis and eating clean can do wonders for your body. It may or may not prevent a disease like cancer, but it certainly can add longevity and happiness to your life.
You have to want to change in order to make changes. What’s your inspiration?

My transformation is not quite complete. I've made strides, however, I'm not quite yet where I want to be. When I started P90X in May 2008, I wasn't in horrible shape. My problem was I needed to take the clean eating up a notch. I wasn't getting enough of some foods each day while I was endulging in too much of something else. I also would take what I call breaks where I'd give myself treats here and there. Digging into P90X helped me realize more than anything which foods I was missing in my diet and how to put it all together. I've since learned to better listen to my body and have made adjustments with each round of P90X I've started. I no longer count servings each day, nor do I let myself get stressed over a day where I've slightly missed the balance in my food intake. Traveling almost every week of the year has really made me plan even more than I had in the past, not only to get workouts in but nutritionally speaking as well. I'm now fine with asking a server how foods are prepared where as in the past, the scene from When Harry Met Sally kept popping in my head each time I thought about asking a restaurant to make an adjustment in how a dish is made. I plan to keep moving forward to get to my goals and hopefully inspire others along the way. I've finally learned that this is a marathon as opposed to a race.
