After much discussion with my husband, I made the decision to stay at home with my kids. It took a good deal of adjustment from everyone, but it is a decision that I have never regretted.
I am a Girl Scout Troop Leader and spend a good deal of time with teenage girls, who have made it their mission to make sure that I am always just outside my comfort zone. I love volunteering at my son’s school, and every day there is quite an adventure.
I enjoy traveling, and love spending time with my family. I am an avid reader and love to read things that stretch my mind, with an emphasis on that which provides motivation, and inspiration.
After many struggles, I am ready to take action, and make myself accountable for my health, and my weight, and improve my life in the process. I hope to be an inspiration to others, and look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

I had some weight issues, and was chubby growing up, but during high school I lost the extra weight, and kept it off until after the birth of my first child. That was the beginning of my dieting roller coaster. Three kids, thyroid disease, surgery, illness, a few broken bones, and an accident that left me with disc injuries in my neck and back all contributed to the 75+ pounds that I’ve gained, lost, and gained again over the years.
As I’ve gotten older it has been more difficult to lose the extra weight that’s plagued me. I’d become fixated by the number on the scale, and would feel hopeless when the scale didn’t show a loss that I felt matched the work that I had put into whatever diet program I was on. Frustrated and disappointed in myself, I would fall off the diet wagon, vowing never to diet again.
My wake up call came along with my diagnosis of thyroid disease. A complete blood work up showed that my BP, HDL, LDL, triglyceride, glucose and cholesterol levels were all on the borderline of bad.
Advised by my doctor to watch what I ate, and add more physical activity to my routine, I began a search to find something that would work for me. I stumbled upon Beachbody, and decided to give it a try. After checking out what they had to offer I chose Turbo Jam to add to my daily walk routine.
I had three months until my next blood work up, and no way to check if I was on track. The only way for me to assure success was to keep with the program. I weighed myself at the beginning, and then put the scale away.
At the end of the first month, my jeans were pretty loose. I dug out a pair a size down, and they fit. I grabbed the scale, and was disappointed at first to only see a 7 pound loss. A few days later a friend I hadn’t seen for a while remarked that it looked like I had lost a lot of weight. After ruminating on that a bit, the light bulb went off and I realized that I was toning and gaining muscle. I was down a jean size, and I HAD LOST 7 pounds!
At my three month check up all of my blood work was right in the middle of the normal range, I had lost 22 pounds, and was down 3 sizes! When I stopped agonizing over the scale, it seemed the weight loss came easier.
Since then, I’ve undergone an emergency surgery that prohibited exercise for months, but I’m happy to report that I’ve still lost 35 pounds and am half way to my weight loss goal. It’s slow going, and life keeps getting in the way, but I am determined to keep pushing play and go the distance!
I’m here to help, so keep pushing play, and keep me posted with how you are doing.
