I have been involved in sports and fitness my whole life with competitive sports in High School and College to an adult life of being what my family calls a fitness nut. I am 55 years old, I weigh 210 lbs. and have a 34” waist. My body fat ratio varies from 13% to 19%. I work out 6 to 7 days a week with each day dedicated to either lifting weights or cardio. So, you may ask what am I doing here? Good question and I have a good answer. I was looking for something new and different to add to and/or cycle into my workout routine that was challenging and effective. That’s when a friend of mine Charline (a true Beach Body/MDB success story, she lost 75 lbs. with Slim n Six and the BB/MDB supplements) introduced me to Beach Body/MDB. I was impressed with the many workout programs available and I found a couple that suited me and could be worked into my exercise routine. Since being a “fitness nut’ has been my only true outside interest (in my real job I am a Financial Manager with a large Corp.) I have self educated myself over the years in exercise/fitness, physiology, and nutrition so that becoming a MDB Coach and helping people get started and stay motivated in a weight loss and fitness program was a natural step. What could be more fun or satisfying than helping people get into something that could help them lead healthier more satisfying lives by doing something I was already doing for myself and loved so much. I like being part of what I think is the most unique feature of Beach Body/MDB, which is the personal support you get through a Coach, the forums, the message boards, the GAME, and workout buddies. You see the best work out program and the best nutrition/diet program will do you no good what so ever if you don’t stick to them, there is no getting around the fact that to lose weight and get fit you have to move the body, sweat, and eat a nutritionally balanced diet. You have already made the positive decision to select a Beach Body/MDB program or you would not be reading this so I encourage you to go a step further and use any or all of the support systems available to you, at the beginning it is hard to deny your body’s cravings for sugar and fat, it is hard to make yourself workout when you are sore and have no time, but you can get through this tough beginning part and within a couple of weeks the diet will be much easier to stick too, the work outs will become something you look forward too. Use your support tools and most importantly contact me if you have a question about anything to do with your diet and exercise program, goal setting, motivation or if you just want me to talk the twinkie out of your hand. Apr 16- I am going on a cruise next week so hard work and dedication to P90x will take a break and get a deserved reward. I know I will add a few lbs while on the cruise but I also know I will take them off after I get back and start a fresh 90 P90X program. I will get a lot of exercise while on the cruise as we have a lot of activities scheduled, zip line, snorkeling, kayaking, and more snorkeling. We have six stops and six physically active excursions scheduled for each one. I am 58 years old and the fact that I am able to easily do all this stuff (and enjoy it) is a tribute to what a program like P90X can do for you, at any age. Feb 4- I am settling in to some good workouts much quicker for this round of P90X as I do have the learning curve to go through I did the first time before my workouts become really effective. Have experienced some problems being consistent with the workouts as I had some kidney stone problems that resulted in minor surgery and I lost 7 days to inactivity so my first 30 days is going to be more like 40 before I reach my first recovery week. Jan 10- starting another round of P90X today. I received a big boost in my fitness level with my first round of P90X but was little disappointed in the visual change. Some of that was my fault as my eating habits were not what they should have been. I have high hopes for this second round and I am anxious to get started. Nov.8- Just finished my second recovery week. I had plateaued for a while but really made some progress over the last two weeks. I hope to see some significant changes in this last 4 weeks. Oct.5- today was the end of my first 4 weeks of P90X since recovering from the fall out of my attic. I have been rehabing with with machine weight training and an eliptical machine for cardio for the last year. Even though I thought I was in pretty good shape P90X really kicked my but and from what has happened so far I think will give me significant changes by the end of the 90 days. Back from cruise gained 10lbs but have already taken off 4 in one week. Back at it hard. Aug 1- dropped a couple of lbs but that is not significant what is positive is I am getting leaner and lowering my bodyfat ratio. I need to get a new after picture up soon. Jul 2- Back to working out regularly now for two months it shows in lost inches weight has become something to ignore as it is relatively constant but I know things are going the right direction as inches are being lost and my appearance is improving. May 30- I have gotten back on schedule working out most days and eating cleaner. Dropped the weight I picked up on the cruise last month and I am trying to decide on a new goal, I think I will work towards a 12% bodyfat but first things first I am looking for a new motorcycle and should have one in the garage by the end of June. May 3- I went on a 7 day cruise this month which was a complete vacation from everything: I ate and drank what I wanted and as much as I wanted and exercised very little. Everybody deserves a week like that once in a while. The problem ensued when 2 days after we returned I came down with walking pneumonia and was down for another week of no exercise. So between the cruise and getting sick I gained 10 lbs. I have since worked of 6 of them and the rest will be gone soon. The pounds are harder to take off than they were to put on but off they will come. Apr. 2 - My weight is staying the same but I am continuing to add muscle and become more defined. I sure progress will stop this month as we are going on a cruise for 7 days from the 13th to 20th so I expect to eat like a starving wolf. Even though it is vacation I will try and work out some so I am hoping to maintain my status but we will see, it is vacation I do plan to have fun. Mar. 2 - Lost 2lbs this month but more importantly I am getting leaner and the stomach muscles are starting to show. Weight loss at this point is almost meaningless as I am exchanging fat for muscle. Not doing that bad really, slow but definitely in the right direction. There have been some positive changes, no earth shaking total body makeover miracles but as I explained in my Bio I am a lifelong athlete and fitness nut able to bench press more than a 56 year old man should as well as easily run 4 miles in 25 minutes so I have had some experience and success in the health and fitness arena. But I wanted to try something new in P90X, and being a Coach and helping people get into fitness and a healthy lifestyle looked fun and challenging. Over the past few months I have only lost 7lbs but my waist has gone down 1 inch and I have added 3/4inches to my arms 1 inch to shoulders and chest. This is positive progress but I have learned that in my case future improvement will come from eating less food and healthier food. I am doing as much exercise as I can possibly fit into my schedule (and you can’t beat P90X for a calorie burning muscle building workout and that is only a part of what I do) so my enemy is food. Food, the quantity and type, is what is preventing me from having the six pack abs. So I have a new plan when it comes to food and I will let you know how it works for me next month in the update. | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
