La Canada, CA Hi, My name is David Walters and I love life.
Time to make a change, my fitness goal this 6 months, help people lose 1,000 lbs. That would mean that over a year, I helped the US lose one ton, and countless people reduce their risk of heart disease by over 20% I need help doing it, let me know if you want to be counted, or help others.

Simply, I am a coach, I coach fitness and I coach baseball. I love what I do and I think I am good at it. I have a 6 month goal of helping people lose 1,000 lbs. That would mean that I helped North Americans lose one ton each year. I like the sound of that.
This is important to me for a lot of reasons. One, I find the idea that my children will have shorter lifespans then me, very saddening. I also believe that quality of life is one of the most important indicators of happiness. Having more energy, and for me, less pain is worth every second of sweating, and every time I turn down seconds, my back and knees thank me. When I was 15, I had such extreme back pain that I spent weeks, unable to stand up. I learned to eat, drink and do homework (luckily I have good friends) all with my back firmly on the ground (beds hurt) knees raised. The doctor decided that I had a birth defect that was aggravated at some point, prescribed physical therapy for the short term, and metal rods inserted into my back for the long term. I would lose mobility, and my back would always ache, but it should stop it from getting worse. As fun as it sounds, I was also diagnosed with acute reactive hypoglycemia and an underactive thyroid, so now my long term diagnosis was painful back surgery, most likely diabetis which would lead to signs of heart disease in my late 30's, all exasperated because I would be heavier due to the underactive thyroid. Luckily, I had a chiropractor during therapy that use to be a doctor for an NFL team. He gave me the best advice I could hope for, "If the structure is weak, strengthen what you can" meaning, I might be able to get by with stronger muscles. I struggled for 10 years finding a system that would work. My back would cripple me about 1 or twice a month, my weight frequently went north of 200 lbs, topping out at 215 (and I thought I was being healthy at the time) and if I did not stay relatively active, the pain got worse. I found Team Beachbody and P90 when I was near my worse, my long hours and frequent business trips made gym's hard to justify. 15-18 hour days meant a lot of junk food. I was doing P90 at 11:30 at night, and getting exhausted on phase 1-2. Ab ripper was almost impossible to get through. But then I noticed that my back hadn't crippled me in weeks, and then I noticed that, while I was actually getting slightly less sleep, I was actually much more energetic. After 2 months, I was doing 3-4 and looking for bigger fish, so I took the next logical step. I went to P90X. The first time doing chest and back, I did a total of 102 pushups. My weight had dropped from 215 to 180, and I had gone over a month without my back crippling me. The following year I took P90X to a highschool baseball team (you may recognize that from the infomercial) where the team had it's best record of any season in over 15 years. I made it to the lightest I had been since I was 15. I was also the strongest I had ever been. I have since been able to maintain my weight between 160 and 175, which for me is a success. My back has only knocked my down twice in a little over 2 years. My back still hurts me every day, but nowhere like it use to, and I believe less then what the back surgery would have left. As far as the other bits, I haven't blacked out from the hypoglycemia in 5 years, though it is still something I need to track, and I received my first clean bill of health from blood work in 10 years. "Great Blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Count me a happy man and a convert.
I have been with TeamBeachBody for over 4 years, and after asking my girldfriend to be my wife (high school sweat hearts) it is the best decision I have made.

For most of my adult life I have wavered between 210 lbs and 190. I have had back issues since I was 14, tore muscles in my shoulder as well as separating it, and have issues with my knees and hip (being a baseball catcher has some drawbacks). I started a online based company after college, which led to a lot of hours in front of a computer, which translates to a lot of inactivity. I was back up to 210, and all my previous injuries hurt all the time. Then I was introduced to Team BeachBody. I have since lost over 40 lbs, my shoulder is the strongest it has ever been (including when I played college baseball) and my back and legs feel better then ever. I can honestly say this has changed my life for the better.
