I am a 35 years old career woman. I lead a busy lifestyle like most everyone else, working close to 50 hours a week and try to find a healthy balance between my work and personal life. Four years ago I was blessed to have finally met my husband and have been married for 3-years now.
Growing up I was known as the tall skinny girl. I was moderately active with activities such as swimming, cheerleading, and tennis. I never had to worry about my diet. In fact, my mom said my sister and I in High School ate as much as two growing boys!
In my 20’s, I continued to remain thin with even less activity than I did in my High School years. I didn’t even gain the infamous freshman 15 in college. Assuming I was blessed with good genes, I was thankful for that!
One day (and I swear it seemed like overnight) it’s as if my body knew the day I turned 30 and it told my metabolism to stop working. All of the sudden, I noticed my clothes started to get a little tight in the waist line. I have labeled this problem “the curse of the thirties”. I informed my younger sister about this and forewarned her of what was to come. I immediately marched myself to the gym, (for the first time in my life I might add). Surprisingly, I enjoyed working out and was doing Pilates, circuit training, and elliptical training. My body responded quickly and within 6 – 8 weeks of working out 3 – 4 times a week, I went from a size 8 down to a 6. For the first time, I noticed muscle definition and could see toning results. I had a lot more energy and looked great.
After I got married in 2005, I found it harder and harder to find the time to get to the gym. I had all the time in the world in my single days, but my lifestyle had changed. Early in our marriage, my husband and I went to the gym a couple days a week and we’d enjoy riding bikes together on the weekends. But after time, the workouts became less and less of a priority. We both would use the excuse that we’re just too busy. But honestly, it was just more fun to hang out together, eat pizza and watch movies than sweat at the gym! Over the last 3 years, I gained weight and went from a size 6 to 12.
Beach Body could not have come at a better time in my life. I started the Beachbody workouts and nutrition supplements on November 12th, 2008 and I'm happy to report that with working out 4 - 5 days a week (my favorite videos are the Yoga Booty Ballet series), I have now slimmed down to fit into my size 10's again! I feel great, and have lots more energy.
