Los Angeles, CA I've been pretty at times in my life, driven by an obsession with martial arts that only faded in my mid-30s but got me to a 4th degree black belt.
My job as an executive keeps me pretty busy, and offers a lot of opportunities for remarkably poor diet; combined with slacking on the exercise and I ballooned up at one point to 244 lbs at my peak (the "before" pictures are at about I've been pretty at times in my life, driven by an obsession with martial arts that only faded in my mid-30s but got me to a 4th degree black belt.
My job as an executive keeps me pretty busy, and offers a lot of opportunities for remarkably poor diet; combined with slacking on the exercise and I ballooned up at one point to 244 lbs at my peak (the "before" pictures are at about 228; if you want to mentally add on the 16 extra lbs be my guest.) I've managed to take the weight off at times, focusing on diet, but I really find that I need more steady discipline than diet provides.
Now, I'm in my mid-40s, and realize that it's not going to get any easier to get back into peak shape; given a family history of heart disease I know I can't sustain where I was if I want a long and happy life. I also threw my back out picking up a CostCo box about a year and a half ago and that was a warning as well-if I want to keep doing the things I like to do I need my most basic tool to be in good condition.

I've just completed by first round of P90X December 1st, having lost some inches off my waist and gained real muscle. A lot of folks have been very complementary of my new physique, but I know I can do better - the diet fell off a lot in the last month, and I missed a workout here and there.
So now, it's off to Insanity for the next 63 days, starting Dec 3. It fits a lot of my primary goals - I have a family history of cardio vascular disease that I am trying to beat, so focusing on the heart and cardio routines for a bit makes a lot of sense.
I'd like to get my resting heart rate and blood pressure down, and drop another couple pants sizes. I'm down to fitting comfortably in slim fit size 34 pants, I'd like to get that down to a 32 before the end of Insanity (or maybe a 31...) I'd also like to get my body fat to under 10%.
After that, I'll either go for a P90X / Insanity hybrid, or maybe give P90X2 a shot - I like to keep testing myself with new things and keep my muscle confused to get things growing. I may also get back to more regular martial arts workouts - I'm an inactive 4th degree black belt, so I need to find a way to keep that going despite a busy schedule.
