I did gymnastics as a kid, and played large Japanese taiko drums in college,
and always had what my mom called "baby fat" -- ie. sludge from excess portions of
processed American food. After college, seeing life from the perspective of Japan I decided to start running and watching portions. When I brought my healthy habits back home to treadmills in California gyms, I saw great success. But I whittled my portions down too much, and
after I hit the very unhealthy bottom, I shot way back up, eating literally
endlessly. Then I thought I wanted to be a pastry chef. I enjoyed the food
while I was around it, which was every day, all day. I tried to fight back
with working out, and fought with watching portions again, and kept fighting
with working out, and kept it up since I found Turbo Kick Boxing at the gym,
but could never control myself around food. When TKB was not an option due
to location, I got into distance running, and got into injury. Luckily TKB was
there to get me by on low impact. But I couldn't get enough TKB, so I sought
out Turbo Jam, and I found sparkpeople.com and realized how important clean, natural, moderate eating is. Being fit is about lifestyle changes and I'm gonna keep it up.
