I have always been a thin person, the kind that could eat what I wanted and not gain an ounce, but I didn't have any muscle but I was thin. So in my early twenties I decided to start lifting weights. More ...
I have always been a thin person, the kind that could eat what I wanted and not gain an ounce, but I didn't have any muscle but I was thin. So in my early twenties I decided to start lifting weights. I worked out religiously for a few years and saw some good results; I had some muscles and muscle definition and my body fat was pretty low. I was very happy with my body and they way I felt, and then my world crashed in on me when my father passed away when I was 25. I was depressed and in a not so good relationship as well. Thankfully I am not a depressed eater, in fact I am the opposite, I don’t have an appetite, so I started to loose weight and of course lean body mass as well. I didn’t look healthy and I knew it. Thankfully, things started to look up in the next year as I moved on and then met my now husband.

Then things started to change on me after 30. I was not as firm and taught and I noticed areas not looking like they did when I was 20, that’s for sure. I was still small and only weighed a bit over 100 pounds but my body composition changed and so did my body fat. It went up over 10% since my 20’s and if I didn’t do something I am sure it would keep going.

In the mean time I got engaged and noticed that my arms looked like a shapeless sausage when I was trying wedding dresses on. Yuck. I finally felt like I was in a great spot in my life, and ready to clean up my diet and I joined a gym, and worked out with a trainer for a few months before my wedding. I also incorporated Shaun T’s Hip Hop Abs in my routine as well. I also started to follow Tom Venuto’s Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle program and started working out regularly. I noticed changes and I felt like my body didn’t forget that I used to be fit. My arms got more defined and I started to get my small muscles again. I was very happy with my wedding pictures.

I have finished P90x with some good results. I found that eating your calories is the most important thing. I lost some body fat and I am very happy with my changes. My goal is to keep going and now try and put on some more muscle. You can do that with P90x but you have to eat your calories all the time! I slacked on that sometimes and it hurt my muscle gain. I plan to go back to the gym and incorporate the P90X workouts into my gym workouts. Maybe in a few months do another round of P90X since I still have room for improvement. I still stink at pull-ups but my push-ups improved alot. Then maybe after I finally feel like I progressed with P90X fully, I will try P90X+, I am a work in progress!
