I have always remained active by running, going to the gym, even competing in some bodybuilding competitions. But somewhere along the way I developed a disordered way of dealing with food. The how’s and whys; an alcoholic father, a bad marriage, the competitions, aren’t important to me at this point in my life. What is important is how I dealt with the issue…not well at first.
They say that things happen for a reason. Maybe that is why chronic pain entered my life in 2004, shortly after completing a marathon. I was told not to run, that it was making my condition worse. That, and a subsequent surgery, made me weak, afraid of “getting fat”, and looking for something to fill the void left from not being able to run.
My sister ordered P90X off an infomercial and I laughed at her. After all, who orders a workout program off an infomercial?! Well…a few months later when I saw what incredible results she was having, I wanted in! I knew I couldn’t do P90X because I was too weak after surgery. So I started with Power 90. And this is how my journey began! I did the workouts and got stronger. I learned what healthy eating looked like. You mean I actually could eat three meals a day AND snacks and lose weight? WOW!
Fast forward to today. I have done most of the Beachbody programs. I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia but my body is so much stronger today then it was when I started this journey. Mentally, I am stronger. I will not say that some days are not a struggle, but I have better tools now to deal with the chatter that sometimes enters my mind. And despite the pain that I deal with daily, I got back into running and ran a half marathon! I truly believe I would not be able to do this without the help of the Beachbody products!
I became a Coach because I truly believe in the effectiveness of the Beachbody products but also because I want to help people be THEIR best self! My mission is to help fellow fibromyalgia sufferers manage their condition through diet, exercise and supplementation. I also want to help people that have dealt or are dealing with eating disorders to know that they are not alone! I am definitely not the same person I was before I found Beachbody. I have met so many wonderful people, Coaches and Customers. When someone tells me that I inspire them to push play or thanks me for helping them…well that, my friends, is what it is all about!
