When I injured my foot in February 2009 while training for a marathon I was not able to workout for three months.I not only felt terrible but also gained 5 pounds in just three months. 5 pounds might seem like a joke to someone who has 20, 50 or 100 pounds to lose, but if I decided to remain physically inactive these 5 pounds would turn into 20 in one year and then into 100, unless I starved myself. And I love to eat and I eat a lot, especially healthy food. It is delicious. You do not want to deprive your body of all the good nutrients and vitamins that help you stay healthy.
So, what do I do? I can no longer run. I have realized that running took a toll on my body. And from my observations and interviews with other avid runners, I realized that most people who run, sooner or later develop some problems with their hips, feet and knees. I am proud of finishing a marathon in a good time of 4 hours and 10 minutes, but I have to say that unless you have a really tough body, I do not recommend it.
So,I tried yoga, but realized that unless you are good at it you will not expand calories. Also, working out at the gym had always been a drag for me. This is when I reminded myself of my home-based workouts back from the time when I was a teenager living in Poland hooked on those hard to get video tapes with Cindy Crawford or Jane Fonda which helped to keep me and my girlfriends fit. I already completed working out with Slim 6 program that brought fitness back to my life after 4 months of not working out and already see results. I lost 4 pounds and regained my strength, energy and my happy outlook on life. I am now up for the real deal: p90x challenge. What will you do ? Let's do something together!
