My new year's resolutions for the last five years have always included losing weight. I start off the year strong, working out consistently for two to three months. Then, like many other people, my efforts tapered off, mainly because I never saw any results for what I believed to be hard work. Feeling frustrated and disappointed, I would stop working out for about a month. Eventually, I would start to feel fat and lazy, so I would start exercising again. For the next two or three months I would exercise regularly, but again, no results, so I would stop exercising. It was a vicious cycle for me.
This year (2010) I turn the big 3-0. Rather than turning 30 and feeling bad about myself and the shape that I was in, I decided this was REALLY going to be the year that I lose the weight for good...and before my 30th birthday in July.
I have been doing Turbo Jam for years and I LOVE it. I believe Turbo Jam is what has kept me exercising throughout the years, because even though I may have gotten frustrated and stopped exercising for a short time period, I was always able to go back to Turbo Jam because it was a fun workout. Even better are Chalene Johnson's Turbo Kick workouts, which is essentially a more intense version of Turbo Jam designed for the gym setting.
When ChaLEAN Extreme came out, I was all over it. I knew I needed to incorporate strength training into my workouts and this was perfect. In the past year or so, I started ChaLEAN Extreme several times, but never finishing because I would always get discouraged by not seeing results. Since I would stop in the middle of the program, I couldn't just pick up where I left off after a month of not lifting weights, so I would always have to start over from the beginning.
In mid-January of this year (2010), I started ChaLEAN Extreme once again. I am now the farthest along in the program that I have ever been. In fact, I'm two weeks away from finishing it. Combining ChaLEAN Extreme with Turbo Jam/Turbo Kick has definitely helped me see results. I've been losing about one pound a week (sometimes a little less) since mid-January, so though my progress is slower than I had hoped, it's progress nonetheless. I'm happy that I'm finally seeing results and that keeps me motivated. I'm months away from my 30th birthday and I am confident that I can achieve my goals if I continue to stay dedicated to myself and my workouts.
