I can be stubborn one minute then loveable the next. I am grateful for the life that I have been given because through it all, it has helped me become the woman I am today. I grew up in a home with lots of food and love to go around. I never had the knowledge of fitness, a healthy diet, or the benefits that it provided. At the age of 16, my weight sored over 150 lbs and More ...
I grew up in a home with lots of food and love to go around. I never had the knowledge of fitness, a healthy diet, or the benefits that it provided. At the age of 16, my weight sored over 150 lbs and I was wearing a size 14/16. It wasn't until I started noticing in photos that I was a plump or "thick" kid because on the inside, I was just as skinny and happy as could be. My fitness journey started roughly 3 years ago. I remember running with my roommate at the time trying to make it from one stop sign to the next without stopping every other minute to grasp for air. She was always an encourager and told me I could make it. Well, she was right. The next memory was when I was a sophomore in college and I ran my first mile nonstop, which took nearly 15 minutes, but I never felt prouder. My thoughts were, "Wow, look what you did!" To show how far along I have come in my fitness and health journey, I have completed 2 Half Marathons setting my best personal record for completion time of 1 hour 53 min and 45 seconds. I have also completed a number of 5k's & 10k's along the way. I will start training for my first FULL marathon the last week of July and my goal for this race is to have fun along the way and to just finish. The overall turn around has been beyond amazing.
