Hello Everyone! My name is Chris Foeste. I am 46 and live in Alpharetta, GA north of metro Atlanta. My journey into fitness began about 8 years ago when I was working in the computer industry. I sat at a desk all day, ate bad food most of the time, and got very little exercise. I had been doing phone support on high end computer systems and was under a lot of stress. One day while I was at work trying to figure out how I could get off the phone and relax a bit I saw my company was having a health fair and I realized I could get out of working for an hour or two. I logged out and was off to the health fair. Well that was a real eye opener! After having the various tests done I was shocked by the results. My blood pressure was high, my cholesterol was high (LDL), and of course I was over weight.

On that day I made a promise to myself to improve my health. I decided to do two simple things. One, eat less bad junk food and two, get some exercise. I cut back on burgers and fries as well as many other bad foods and I started walking after dinner in the evening. One year later I was still at the same job and still stressed out and it was health fair time again. So once again I used the health fair as an excuse to get out of work for an hour or two. However this year the results were much different. My blood pressure was down, my cholesterol was down (LDL and my HDL was up.) Most of all I was down about 25 pounds!

I was very excited with my results and was telling a couple of the people working at the fair what I had done when one of them asked if I had ever considered being a personal trainer? They thought I had the right attitude and personality for the job. Until that point in time the thought never crossed my mind but after that day it crossed it a lot.

I had already decided to join a gym and continue getting back in shape and as fate would have it a gym opened up on my route to work. I had to pass the place twice a day going to and from work so there was no excuse to not join. This gym was a small independent gym with the owner running the place. I became a regular and got to know the owner and many of the members. One day I decided if I wanted to be a trainer I should see if I liked working in a gym. I asked the owner for a job and as fate would have it he had a part time opening for front desk and a trainer. I started working for him and became friends with one of the trainers.

Dave Young was a professional body builder from England who taught me how to train myself and how to be a good professional trainer. Dave was not like so many of the trainer I had met who didn’t care about the client or who would tell them anything just to keep them. He taught me how to train myself well and how to train a client the right way. As a trainer he has always been a mentor and someone I respect as a professional.

My next step was to become certified as a trainer so I would have more respect in the industry. So many trainers were so full of it and so uneducated I wanted to set myself a part from them. I looked up training certifications on the web and decided on I.S.S.A. for my certification. That is a decision I have never regretted. I.S.S.A. has so many dedicated professional working for them that they continue to inspire me all the time. One of these is Dr. Jack Barnathan who did my certification class when I certified. Dr. Jack has inspired me and continued to challenge me to excel as a person and trainer.

After working part time as a trainer and selling memberships I decided it was time to make the leap to full time fitness professional. As fate would have it the company I was working for in the computer industry was doing lay off and I volunteered to go first. Actually I couldn’t wait to quit that job! I started working for myself as a full time personal trainer/fitness professional and have never regretted the move and never looked back. I started “On Fire Fitness” because I was on fire to help people change their lives for the better. My mission statement is “On Fire Fitness is passionately committed to people with a burning desire for improved fitness and health.”

What brings me to Beach Body’s club is my desire to be in the best shape I can be to inspire other to not settle for anything less than total success. I feel I can best represent and inspire people if I look the part. If I am going to talk the talk than I am going to walk the walk! So I am here to achieve the look of the great people I have seen who are part of this club. I am open to the advice of anyone who knows what they are doing and anyone who want to be friends and share professional success.
