My sister and I would do kid Jazzercise with my mom growing up, and we were always encouraged to stay active, which is easy when you are spending all your free time running around outside, before Nintendo came out! Then as I started to get older my passion for swimming My passion for fitness began as a young child, when I signed up for competitive summer league swim team at the age of four. My sister and I would do kid Jazzercise with my mom growing up, and we were always encouraged to stay active, which is easy when you are spending all your free time running around outside, before Nintendo came out! Then as I started to get older my passion for swimming increased, and I expanded my sports to include track and cheerleading, but swimming is the only thing I maintained all the way through High School in Atlanta. When I left for college, I attended Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, I decided I needed to find a new way to keep in shape. It was just too cold to swim in the winters! I found out about a Group Fitness Instructor apprenticeship program which then allowed for a job at the student recreation center, and I just wen for it! From there I furthered my career and became the student programmer for Appalachian State's program and helped expand the information taught, created a yoga and pilates training division, created a yoga training program for the Football Players and decided to pursue my degree in Exercise Physiology! I transferred home to Atlanta to finish my Senior year at Georgia State University, and while doing so I was the Group Fitness Coordinator for an LA Fitness location in Dunwoody. When I finished my studies, I went to Tampa for a Corporate Fitness Internship, I had done fitness in the College and Commercial settings, and was interested in learning about the intricate differences of each industry. I was able to expand my knowledge and expertise, and shortly after my internship I got a job with a Commercial Chain that is local to Tampa, Shapes Total Fitness for Women. I was a personal trainer, Group Fitness Instructor as well as the Group Fitness Coordinator for the South Tampa location. This was a wonderful experience, as well, because I again got to learn about Women's Only Fitness and how it is different from co-ed facilities. After a year in Tampa I decided to move back to Atlanta to pursue my Masters Degree in Sport Business Management at Georgia State University. I accepted a job with Peachtree Center Athletic Club as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, and after 4 short months I was promoted to the Fitness Director position, where I am in charge of the Personal Training and Group Fitness department while still training and teaching myself. I have found this to be a very fun and rewarding job! But I do not want to be limited to only helping those who walk through the doors of our gym, I want to me able to speak with and impart my knowledge of health and fitness with as many people as I can. Our world is dealing with an epidemic of obesity among children and adults and mostly due to lack of knowledge and education of what being Healthy truly means! It is not only physical fitness and activity, but the nutritional aspect, social reinforcement, support, having fun and enjoying a way of life that will prolong your life! It is about feeling good, and loving your body and everything that your body is capable of doing for you as long as you take care of it the best that you can! I am a certified Turbo Kick instructor, I have the Turbo Jam home DVDS and I just love moving my body to the wonderful music and great instruction of Chalene Johnson! I always hear wonderful things about Hip Hop Abs and P90X among others and i decided that I, too, wanted to spread the word of what these fitness professionals are providing for the comfort of your own home, and what I can do to supplement your efforts to be the best that you can be! Together we can help you achieve your goals of total health, Mind, Body & Spirit! | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
