My name is Jonny Schultz - born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Growing up I was always a chubby kid although I played a lot of sports, including; baseball, basketball, football, soccer, track & field, & wrestling. No matter how many sports I played, I could never defeat the extra body fat. In 1998-1999 I hit a low point in my life, which included smoking cigarettes every day & drinking alcohol every night. The drinking eventually led to a horrible accident involving 3 co-workers and I where 3 of us had been rushed to the emergency rooms via life flight or ambulance. The results of this accident left the driver of the vehicle we had been riding in paralyzed from the waist down due to a severed spine and the other two of us left with severe injuries - only 1 of the passengers walked away from this accident without any injuries. During my initial recovery I had a lot of personal time to reflect on my life, and I had decided to make a change.
At the age of 19 I decided to find a local gym and start taking better care of my body so I signed up for a gym membership at $30 per month and hit the cardiovascular machines. When I first started working out, my main goal was recovery from the accident and to build my cardiovascular strength as my lungs had been collapsed in the accident - needless to say I had quit smoking cigarettes due to the collapsed lungs (I learned the hard way). I was still in recovery mode from the accident so I spent countless hours riding stationary bikes, running on treadmills, using stair steppers, and gliding on the elliptical trainers. During the coarse of my recovery on the cardiovascular I had found the weight room and started trying out a few of the different machines and equipment. I knew little about weight training, but the more I picked up the weights, trying out new lifts, and starting to see the results of my body transforming, the more I was starting to like weight lifting along with the 1-2 hr cardiovascular activities. The gym started to become an addiction for me as I was seeing the great results and feeling pretty good after about a year PLUS I also had nothing better to do. While a lot of my friends were still playing around with the recreational activities I had used to be involved in, I was in the gym trying to avoid those activities.
Years in the gym and working hard had passed, and I had yet another time of reflection on my life at the age of 23. Where was I? Who was I? What did I want to do with myself? The gym activities were good for me, but I wanted something more out of life. My daily routine was wake up, go to work (if I had a job), work out, sleep then do it all over again - day in day out. I had just started a new job in a call center taking hotel reservations. A co-worker of mine asked if I would be interested in meeting a friend of hers. I wasn't too sure about meeting my co-worker's friend as I was not very good with meeting new people - I'm a pretty shy individual but once I warm up to you you'll know I'm not really all that shy - maybe just a little timid at first. Although I wasn't too sure about meeting this friend, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and meet my co-workers friend and go on a blind date, and I'm glad I did! I happy to say stepping out of my comfort zone worked out for the better as I am now married to the most beautiful woman in the world! Her name is Trish and she the best thing that could ever happen to me. My whole life changed after we met and started dating.
Over the next couple years I grew tired of working different odd ball jobs and I had been working as a personal trainer for one of the big corporations known to be open all 24 hours of the day so I decided to make a change and commit myself to school. I had seen what school did for Trish after she earned her Associate Degree, and Trish was holding a steady job that she was loving. I signed up for classes and worked hard for the next few years to complete my AA degree in Computer Science in 2005. I was so happy to finally have accomplished my goal, and I quickly found a job where I was finally earning a little more money, but I was still not content so Trish and I decided to move our education along and each complete a BA in Business Administration with a focus in management in early 2008.
During the course of my focus on school, I had lost my motivation in regards to the gym as my priorities had been changing over the last few years, and I was starting to feel I just didn't have the time to spend 3 hours in the gym everyday. My motivation for the gym activity had transitioned to a point of zero. In 2007 when I was nearing the end of my BA degree, I was introduced to a new activity, which quickly became a new passion and I have been loving it ever since the day I began - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. My new passion for the arts set me free from countless hours of weight lifting and gym time. Although my time spent in martial arts has been keeping me quite occupied, I needed something to help me stay in shape and take my cardiovascular, strength, and physique to the next level and I didn't want to spend all that time in the traditional gym setting. I was recently introduced to Team Beach Body and the Insanity program. All I can say is WOW! Team Beach Body has hit a new level in fitness. Not only is my cardio level to an all time high, but my physique is starting to look great! PLUS I'm spending less than an hour per day working out - as Charlie Sheen would say "WINNING"
Seeing the results from my experience with Team Beach Body (TBB) and discovering the wealth of all the TBB products and support system has made me a firm believer that anyone can do this regardless of age or body type. There are so many programs and so much information to share. I'm extremely excited to start this new adventure with you and I want to help you transition that body into the body you want to see yourself living in!
