Growing up I was always a skinny kid. I can remember a neighbor lady putting her fingers around my wrist and saying to my mom "don't you feed this kid?" I stayed pretty skinny until I was in my mid 20's when I got to go to Mexico for a few months to work. I put on about 10 to 15 pounds in those few short months. I can remember a neighbor lady putting her fingers around my wrist and saying to my mom "don't you feed this kid?" I stayed pretty skinny until I was in my mid 20's when I got to go to Mexico for a few months to work. I put on about 10 to 15 pounds in those few short months. After that, as they say, life happened, and I just kept eating whatever I wanted, not paying much attention to my weight because everyone would always say "you're not fat", so I never really worried about it. Move up to about 35yrs old. My dad died of a massive heart attack, 3 days after seeing a doctor. This woke me up. I went for the stress test and was told I was fine, so again no worry. Now move up to about 40 years old and as I was jogging up my stairs I noticed my body jiggling. I couldn't believe it; how did I manage to get that out of shape? So, at 40 I decided to get in the best shape of my life up to that point. Worked out for 6 straight months went from 17% body fat to 10% body fat while maintaining the same overall weight. I was ecstatic! But again life happened and I slowly stopped going to the gym. Move up to 50yrs old. Now I'm ready to get into the best shape again, saw p90x and hit play for about a month, and then summer came and I stopped. I was noticably slimmer at that point. Now moving up to 51yrs of age in June of 2009, I once again want to achieve that body I have wanted to have, but never quite achieved over the years. Surgery for a meniscus tear, Feb 3, 2009, in my left knee has kept me from going all out in my cardio workouts but I keep hitting play and do the best I can. I can't say enough about all my buddies in Team Beachbody. They definitely hold me accountable! In June I will turn 51, and I still believe with the help of all my buddies and Team Beachbody, I will be in the best shape of my life!

Feb. 23 2009. Well, I felt it's time to start the transformation story. I'm about one month into working out with Team Beachbody and though numbers haven't changed, I feel my fitness level has increased. One week into this program I had a tear in my left meniscus removed, so I've been taking it "mildly" easy. Doc said nothing too hard, but I couldn't resist getting back to the Burn It Up disc. So after just two days I was back at the TV pushing play. My knee is still sore but I continue to push play.
So far my biggest challenge comes when it's time to eat. Though I've been eating better I know that I can improve. As they say you have to walk before you run, and trying to make all the changes i.e working out, eating right, getting enough sleep, all at one time can sabotage all good intentions. So I've been consistent with working out, now I must work on the diet plan. March 1st I plan on attacking P90X. Hopefully my knee will agree it's time. Can't wait! The change is going to come!!!
Well, March 1st has come and gone and my knee is still saying no to moving up to P90X. Next week (march 9), the plan is to move on regardless. I will do the upper body workouts, and whatever else feels ok to do. I will keep pushing play!
