HI! I started working out on January 2nd, 2007 (no, it was not a New Year's resolution - just when I started.) I weighed in at a whopping 322 lbs! I know - crazy! I started out slowly using the treadmill, elliptical and a class or two. I tried to do something for about 30 minutes every day after work - which is four days a week. After a serious motorcycle accident in July of 2006, I had a lot of questions. Would my injuries have been less severe if I would have weighed less? Would I have recovered faster or more easily if I didn’t have so much fat to deal with? Those types of questions ran ramped through my mind during my three months of recovery. I figured since God blessed me with a second chance at life – I had to change something to be able to take advantage of this second chance! Once I was almost done with my three months of occupational therapy, I started looking for a gym to join and found a Gold’s Gym that was close to work. I decided to join Gold’s since I had some friends who went there and could hold me accountable for continuing to go. I work 4 – 10 hour days so I started going every day after work. I have done about 20 – 30 minutes of cardio, but an hour of cardio on my Turbo days! :) I have also concentrated on strength training! It is amazing what a huge difference it makes! Instead of losing about 2 inches every two months (I get re-measured every 2 months) – I lost 4.5” this past time. I (like most women) didn’t want huge muscles and learned that my body is not “naturally” going to produce large muscles, but rather be able to help me tone and shape my body! I am now only 15 pounds away from my weight loss goal for my husband and me to start a family. My plans for the future include becoming certified for Turbo, continue taking Turbo classes as well as cardio and strength training and working with my trainer! Next Spring, I hope to get pregnant and enjoy every moment of it (while still doing Turbo, of course)!!! :)
