I used to weigh 125 lbs. and I'm 5'8" BUT ballooned to a whopping 199 lbs after an accident in 2000...I am a 47 year old mother of three grown sons, and I used to work as a sergeant in a correctional facility and I came to realize that being fit is very important at this stage in my life--moreso than ever. I have since returned to teaching! My oldest son has now signed up on wowy I used to weigh 125 lbs. and I'm 5'8" BUT ballooned to a whopping 199 lbs after an accident in 2000...I am a 47 year old mother of three grown sons, and I used to work as a sergeant in a correctional facility and I came to realize that being fit is very important at this stage in my life--moreso than ever. I have since returned to teaching! My oldest son has now signed up on wowy and wants to do P90X! We got a good laugh over the Insanity Fit Test, but I'll share that another time. Either that or I'll let him tell you the story if he decides to become a coach! LOL!
I started with TJ, then Chalean Extreme, and I am now doing Insanity! Since doing Insanity, I lost 30 lbs and dropped 3 pant sizes in 40 days, and started round 2! LOL! I can help with any questions you have and am willing to help! Just let me know! Most who know me can vouch that I was a whale @ 199 lbs. before taking up this program, even though I did tone up and gain some speed and endurance on others. For some reason, the intensity of Insanity is what I needed and am now getting ready to order P90X or Turbofire to do hybrid workouts.
I was told I would never be able to do things I used to do. I am the type of person who hates being told I have limits and strive to challenge myself. My injuries were to the soft tissues of my neck and spine (to my middle back) and I was in physical therapy for over 8 months! Beachbody has helped me to conquer fears about my old "battle scars" and I am back on track! I can help you get there too, but if you have a history of heart issues, diabetes, joint or back problems, high blood pressure or anything else, please see a doctor before starting any program. Get the okay, and then start out EASY, progressively building up if that's what it takes. It is okay to do that, you will still get results and I am living proof!
For my experience, working the muscles helped me to overcome my pain and I am going back to doing 2 a days! I also plan to try other programs to better assist you. There are key things to remember--do not try to be superman (or superwoman)! If you need to modify--especially do to old injuries, it's okay to do so. Drink plenty of water--you will need it. I also recommend getting a heart rate monitor. You can usually get these in the sporting goods section of your local retailer in the form of a watch if you cannot afford other models. When your heart rate is too high, you need to take a break! Trust me--I tend to get hyper and have come close to overdoing it many times!
I recommend a few other things as well-eating "clean"-and getting a good pair of cross-training shoes because they will get you through these programs like you would not believe! Find the brand of shoes that works for you, but the ones I hear about most are Nike, Reebok, Addidas, Avis, Ryka. I cannot vouch for the others but Nike, Reebok and Ryka have both worked well for me. Just to let you know, Rykas are made especially for WOMEN'S feet. I also recommend getting insoles if you need the extra support! They work great!
Becoming fit has become priority for me and still is Working in corrections can be dangerous, and I vowed then that I would be at my personal best within a year of starting out! My workouts are helping me to get to where I want to be. Whether you do P90X, TJ, CE, Body Gospel, Turbo Fire--it doesn't matter. Find the program and nutrionals that work for you and you will get to where you want to be too! I promise you that you can take it back--one day at a time, one pound at a time, and one workout at at time!
"Take it back!" is my personal motto! If your life is controlling you--TAKE IT BACK! These programs have helped me to do just that because the support is wonderful!
I am also on facebook folks! My name is Tina Thomas and the email address for that is gooangel@aol.com if you have trouble finding me, but I have the same pic on FB so I thought I'd better let you guys know! I go by Kadja2 on twitter.com if you would like to follow me on that site as well!
I also recommend 2 books--"The Eat Clean Diet" by Tosca Reno and "Master Your Metabolism" by Jillian Michaels. Even if you don't like shows like "The Biggest Loser" Michaels lays out what hormones and chemicals do to men and women-she lists them and their effects. You will shop for food differently after reading those books, but you don't sacrifice taste or anything because you still get plenty of food! Eating clean will not bust your budget either! I promise!
I also strongly recommend trying Shakeology! Only 1 shake a day can help you lose weight and promote regularity. It also gives you energy! You really ONLY need one a day as opposed to what you can buy in the markets! I am using it now and it has helped me immensely!
