My name is Kelly, and i'm 19 years of age. Currently, i'm living in Orange County, California. Originally born and raised in Denmark however and moved here when i was 11. I think that's when my eating habits took into effect. I didn't know the English language when i moved here almost 8 years ago, and it's hard being an 11 year old kid trying to fit into a new world without being able to
My name is Kelly, and i'm 19 years of age. Currently, i'm living in Orange County, California. Originally born and raised in Denmark however and moved here when i was 11. I think that's when my eating habits took into effect. I didn't know the English language when i moved here almost 8 years ago, and it's hard being an 11 year old kid trying to fit into a new world without being able to communicate to anyone your own age. So, instead of making friends, i became best friends with my refrigerator. Not really the smartest thing to do, but it seemed to work at the time. I was never overweight when i was a kid, and wasn't up until moving to America. I started gaining weight like crazy and finally after a few years tried getting it off by sports (Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, Cheerleading).
At age 15 i was 140 lbs. Now i probably should have mentioned, that i have extremely bad knees. My patela (Knee cap) always falls out of place and caused me a great amount of pain. So, at age 15 i was told i needed knee surgery on my right knee. That made me go up to 150 lbs from only being able to sit on my butt on a couch for months at a time trying to heal. When i finally healed and went through a good amount of Physical Therapy, i lost the 10 lbs i had gained and i was satisfied. I hardly remembered what it was like weighing less, so to me, it was fine.
My left knee started getting worse so at age 17 i had to have surgery on my left knee. Now, sitting out even more months then the first, i gained 20 lbs. Weighing 160 lbs as a 17 year old, made me feel horrible. I got a job right away in a clothing store where i knew standing up for 8 hours would be good for me. I lost 20 lbs just by having this job alone. So i was down to what i thought my ideal weight should be of 140 lbs.
I'm now 19 and have a job in an office. Not very good for the body. I sit down 8 hours everyday at work and hardly have any movement. My knee's aren't doing too well, so going to the gym and doing a lot of what they offer is out of the question. I gained a lot and currently weigh 170 lbs. I've been told by my Orthopedic Surgeon that if i don't loose some weight and gain muscle in my Quads to help the knee cap lift off from the femur that i'll need surgery again so i'm going to start eating better and doing my Turbo Jam, As well as using a Stationary Bike that helps build streng in the Quads. Wish me luck, and i'll report back when things start to improve, which i have full faith they will because i'm determined!
