I’m in my mid 40s, live in Northern California I’m a career sales and management executive in the information technology industry. I spend a lot of my time on the road, meeting and entertaining clients. In my spare time I enjoy golfing (played 100+ rounds last year). I also enjoy snow skiing in the Sierras and water skiing and boating on Northern California’s many inland lakes and reservoirs.

Many long hours at work, sitting in a chair in front of a laptop, and on the phone, lots of time waiting for flights in crowded airports, traveling to various cities for client meetings and dinners out at restaurants, and all of a sudden there was a spare tire around my waist and I was in my 40’s. I had a gym membership and worked out 1 to 2 times per week and I worked out occasionally when I was out of town in the hotel fitness center. The elliptical machine and I were well acquainted. Weight training was intermittent. Even thought I felt a sense of accomplishment after leaving the gym, my body was still turning into a typical white collar guy in a nice suit with a belly. I thought I was eating healthy because I ordered fish at restaurants, but the on the run snacks and the before dinner cheese, crackers and beer was working against my attempts to eat better. Over time that spare tire was getting out of hand and the old elliptical was not having much effect.

My wife and I went on vacation, when we returned and I was looking at pictures I could not believe the man in the picture was me. I thought that if I worked out more and ate less I could lose weight and become fit, however the lifestyle I had did not accommodate that easy fix.

I decided drastic measures were needed. I had successfully put together fitness and nutrition programs myself previously, however my body was not responding as well as it used to when I was younger. I was looking for something that was a complete program that was developed and tested by professional for people like me. P90x was perfect in that it is a comprehensive fitness and nutrition program, already laid out and all I had to do was push play and bring it!

The biggest obstacle I faced was my travel schedule, and staying on the diet when out of town. I found that I could bring the DVDs with me and use them in the hotel room or fitness center on my laptop. Once I got used to understanding how to eat, and when, my travel diet became easier. Its all a matter of education and numbers.

The first two weeks were the hardest, I have to admit, I felt a bit silly jumping around in my bedroom. But after I tried the routines a couple times and established a schedule, I started looking forward to working out. In the first 30 days, the pants I was wearing became lose. I had more energy and felt stronger and I was proud of myself. My P90X coach always said….”you can do anything for 90 days”. Today I am a P90X grad and a coach.
