San Antonio, TX Back in high school I was at an average weight for my height, about 6'0 and between 180 - 185lbs. I could pretty much eat anything and everything without gaining weight. A few years after that I played a lot of volleyball, some basketball, and a few other sports with co-workers a few times a week, so I kept the same unhealthy eating habits because it never affected me at the time. Once I hit Back in high school I was at an average weight for my height, about 6'0 and between 180 - 185lbs. I could pretty much eat anything and everything without gaining weight. A few years after that I played a lot of volleyball, some basketball, and a few other sports with co-workers a few times a week, so I kept the same unhealthy eating habits because it never affected me at the time. Once I hit my mid 20's and started having kids, my weight slowly started to climb. Actually, it was probably before that. Honestly, once I moved to Chicago (GREAT FOOD THERE!!) and stopped exercising, yet keeping the same unhealthy eating habits, is when I started to gain weight. Being in the IT field and sitting at a desk all day didn't help my situation at all. From 2001 through April 2009 I went from a 6'0 / 185lbs guy to 255lbs (70lbs weight gain). At one point back in 2003 I had started to lose weight and workout regularly, but after a long hospital stay the weight came back and I never started working out again. From there I got married, had 4 kids, kept working in the IT field and led a very non-active lifestyle.
In April of 2009 I sat down and took an honest look at where I was headed, both in my professional and personal life. I was sitting in a hotel room in San Antonio, TX when a P90x infomercial came on and grabbed my attention. No gimmicks, no crazy quick weight loss diet pills or "juice diets", just hard work, exercise, a healthy meal plan, some dumbbells and resistance bands, and a pull-up bar. I made the decision to change my lifestyle and transform myself back into the person I was meant to be physically. As a father, I also want to pass the gift of a healthy lifestyle to my kids as well.
However, going from not working out at all straight into the P90x program seemed like a bit much for me. So, I did some research and ordered "Power 90" first to basically trim down and prepare myself for P90x. I started my journey on May 4th, 2009 and keep a vlog at http://www.youtube.com/khalilguinn where I document my progress.
