I have struggled with my weight and body shape for
most of my life. My earliest memory of worrying about my weight was when I
was 13 years old. I purchased over the counter diet pills and took them for a
while without my parents knowing - of course that didn't work. During my
adult life, I have been anywhere from 10-40 lbs over my target or happy
weight. The heaviest I have been was in 1998 I weighed about 175 lbs. which
is 40 lbs over my target weight.

In August 2000, I started having anxiety attacks and went through a rough
time in which I lost 20 lbs very quickly. After I started feeling mentally healthy
I decided to continue to lose weight by eating better and exercising. I started
running and that became my only exercise however I was able to get to 125
lbs. My family and friends felt I was too thin and thought I should 'stop'
dieting and gain back a little. Funny how that works. I look back at it now
and think it was just that they were so used to seeing me over weight that the
new me didn't look right to them. I wasn't underweight actually at 125 lb. I
was at a perfect weight for my age and body frame.

As life would have it, over the next 6 years I slowly gained back about 35 lbs.
March 2008 I took a trip to Florida and was disgusted with how I looked in
the pictures. I decided I had had enough of yo-yo dieting and just running 3-
5 miles a few times a week wasn't cutting it for exercise.

April 1st 2008, I started my
fitness/lifestyle change. I got serious and started reading as many diet &
fitness books as I could get my hands on. I had to start thinking differently, I
had to stop looking for the quick fix, I had to put the hard work in and see
where it took me.

I picked a pair of jeans out of my 'too small' pile of clothes and tried them on
every two weeks and took pictures for 4 months. I started spinning at the
gym 2-3 times a week and was running 3 times a week. I knew every turn of
the peddle or every step while running was bringing me one step closer to my
goals. I pictured myself fitting into my 'target jeans' and stopped listening to
that voice in my head that wanted me to quite because it was too hard. I
didn't get discouraged, I knew that I wouldn't start to see real changes for 4-
6 weeks and low and behold the changes started to show. In May 2008 my
boyfriend started P90x and I started doing the yoga x with him. I loved it and
started taking classes at the gym. By December 10th 2008 I celebrated my 40th birthday and I felt AWESOME! I hit by goal of being FIT by 40!

I am getting fit & healthy and having fun doing it. Right now I am in better shape then I was when I turned 30.

I credit Weight Watchers for teaching me how to eat and Beachbody products for teaching me that through exercise I can get in shape and have fun doing it. I have also met GREAT people all over the country from the BB boards and Tony Horton Fitness Camps.
