HI, I'm Kristen. I'm a 30 year old mom of 2 beautiful kiddos, ages 6 and almost 4. I am a nurse, and am blessed that I have my dream job where I get to work from home in my PJs (and/or workout clothes), and coffee in hand. I'm a 30 year old mom of 2 beautiful kiddos, ages 6 and almost 4. I am a nurse, and am blessed that I have my dream job where I get to work from home in my PJs (and/or workout clothes), and coffee in hand. The reason I became a nurse, was because I enjoyed helping people, but I didn't realize until after starting my nursing career that some parts of the job were just not for me. All the more reason why my home job totally suits me. However, I do miss the personal contact that hospital or clinic nursing provides, which is part of the reason why becoming a coach for Team Beachbody is really exciting to me. I love working with people, I love sharing any knowledge I have that might help someone else, and I love being an encourager. I've always enjoyed working out, whether it be running, biking, videos at home, going to the gym, or Pilates.
I still have a lot of fitness goals I've yet to reach. I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight prior to a beach vacation last winter, but then gained some back after coming home and getting out of my routine. Even though I love working out, the eating part can be really hard for me. Sometimes I just want to sit with a quart of ice cream and watch TV all night....well, and sometimes I do. What I've realized though is that it's about PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION!! One day a week I still have a whole cheat day where I eat what I want, when I want with no guilt. This really helps keep me on track for the rest of the week when I'm doing 6 small meals a day consisting of lean protein, complex carbs and healthy fats. I don't ever count calories...it just messes with my head!! I also try to stay off the scale for the same reason. Instead I focus on how my clothes fit, and what my body fat % and measurements are.
I'm so excited to be a Team Beachbody coach. Everyone needs a support system when trying to lose weight and get fit. It makes such a huge difference if you are accountable to someone, and I want to be that person for anyone who needs it! And I know, in turn, this will keep me accountable as well. What a great bonus!

When I was growing up, I remember my Dad jumping rope in the garage each night, and my mom always cooked wholesome meals...I don't remember her ever cooking anything out of a box. My Dad's nightly ritual instilled in me a sense that working out should be part of everyone's daily routine, and because of this I have always enjoyed working out. As many many moms will say, everything was fine until I had children. Boy does that wreck havoc on your body! In college I was able to eat whatever I wanted, workout fairly regularly, and still maintain the same physique. After having my first baby, I had 30 extra pounds on, and I felt miserable. It took me 2 years, and many many failed attempts, and lots of frustration to lose around 20 pounds. I then got pregnant again, and after my second baby I had about 20 extra pounds on. Again, I struggled to find something that I could stick with long enough to make a dent in the scale. I found that the more "dieting" I did, the more unhappy I was. I just hated telling myself I couldn't have certain things..then feeling guilty when I gave into cravings, then ditching the whole diet. It seemed like an endless cycle, and I was so frustrated. After joining a gym and working out for 6 solid months with no results, I discovered that 1) I was not working out efficiently, and 2) I was eating completely wrong. Once I changed those 2 things, I was much more successful in losing the "baby weight" that I had on for 2 years. Currently, I still enjoy going to the gym several times a week, but I have discovered that the option of working out at home is such a nice alternative on those days when I just can't get to they gym. The personal trainers at my gym cost $60 an hour for a cookie cutter workout, so I feel like I'm getting a great deal with the videos. Tony Horton's P90 videos are my favorite because he keeps me smiling throughout the workout..I just like his sense of humor. I've also learned some great new exercises that I can incorporate into my gym routine as well. I also like that my kids see me working out and hopefully will develop the same outlook on fitness as I did from watching my Dad.
