I'm a 37-year old mom of three kids, ages 17, 11, and 9. I struggled with weight (and fat) issues after the birth of each child. My greatest success story occurred approximately 8 months after my daughter was born. As soon as my doctor released me for physical activity, I started using an elliptical machine that I ordered during a midnight feeding. I weighed 169 pounds then. I added walking outside to the routine as soon as the weather permitted. Then I added jogging and finally running. I lost 55 pounds in 6 months! I was 28 years old then. I pretty much maintained my weight and fitness level for the next few years. I met my husband in 2006, and we began bodybuilding together. I weighed 118 when we started. At first I lost weight, and went down to 112. I was building muscle however, and within a few months I increased to a healthy 128. I looked better with a little meat on my bones. Life got busy, and I started slacking on my routine. I was hit and miss for gym visits, and my weight began increasing again. I tried to re-initiate my enthusiasm, but the longer I went without the gym, the less I missed it. In February 2008, I became a certified Group Power instructor. I started teaching classes a couple of times a week, and for awhile I stayed motivated. When summer came, my class got cancelled due to low attendance. In July I became a certified Zumba instructor, but I did not use my training to teach at that point. I 'started' a new plan several times over the rest of 2008, but my enthusiasm was missing. By January I was up to 130, but it was certainly not primarily muscle. I had to buy new jeans. In March I was at 132, and I had never weighed that much not pregnant or after just having a baby in my life. By spring I couldn't fit into the previous year's summer clothes, so I bought the next size up. I found Beachbody in late March, and I started using P90X. I was psyched and motivated again. I only made it through the end of April. May was a very busy month for my early childhood volunteer activities, and I took the entire month off! I took a Zumba class teaching opportunity that runs 8 weeks, and I just got Chalean Extreme in the mail yesterday. I'm currently a juniors size 11 on the bottom, and my juniors large t-shirts and tanks are getting tight around my bra line area. I have to suck in my tummy for the first time EVER! I did the first Burn workout today and followed it with the Turbo Jam Fat Blaster workout. I am going to take this one day at a time. It's much easier to think about getting up and doing a workout tomorrow than thinking about an entire 90 days. My goal right now is to be able to wear a sport bra with nothing over it (and look great) by August 31. Our Zumba team leaves for Florida on September 1, and I want to join the group that can get away with baring a ripped tummy. I'm on my way and looking forward to tomorrow's workout. Smooches.
