My name is Lissa Alley, and I live in Southwest (Roanoke) Virginia with my amazing husband Blake(Paramedic).
I had no idea that by starting P90X, I would eventually become a coach helping others also get fit & healthy. This was not even a thought when I started, but throughout my journey I became more and more passionate about working out, eating healthier, and I felt that I had to share this with others.
Prior to March 2012 I never worked out, plain and simple. I claimed I was so busy with nursing school (BSN), work, and everything else that I did not have time to workout. I would come home from work and say I'm too tired to workout, and then try to make myself feel better by telling myself "Well, I walked a lot today at work (I'm a nurses assistant)." Excuses and more excuses.
Fortunately, I was blessed by God, and I have a higher metabolism than most so I’ve never been overweight. I have always been the skinny girl. Just because I was skinny it didn't mean I was healthy by any means. I ate what I wanted when I wanted, and as much as I wanted. Although I wasn't showing pounds on the outside, I was feeling the effects of my choices on the inside. I was always tired. I had no energy, and I was always getting headaches. It was all I could do to make it through the day, without wanting to take a nap.
So what was the turning point for me? Well, I got to a point where I was just totally fed up with myself, and all of my excuses. I needed to change. My husband had been telling me (after hearing me complain about how I look and feel)to just do something about it and stop complaining. Sounds harsh, but he was exactly right! A little side note about my husband...He has always struggled with his weight. He is not really overweight, but he is overweight. He gets up every morning at 4 am and goes to the gym to workout for 2 hours, before going to work at 7 am, and then works 7am-7pm. Talk about dedication!
Well, we already had P90X in the house from where my husband had did it before, 1 year prior, so I decided that is what I was going to do! I was going to do P90X. Now, I had gotten fired up before about working out for a couple of days, but then the spark died down, I was over it, and I quit. But this time it was different, I was so ready for a change. I wanted this so bad. So I started pushing play, everyday, for 90 days, and let me tell you, it transformed my life.
I have so much more energy. I am happier. I love the way I look, but most importantly I love the way it has made me feel. I have gained lean muscle, and I have traded in my string bean physique, for a toned and defined figure.
After completing P90X, I honestly felt like I needed to do more and get more involved. I started thinking about being a Team Beachbody Coach. After doing research, and finding out what being a coach is all about, I decided this was my next step. I wanted to help others achieve their fitness goals, and overcome their setbacks, and share with others what all I have learned.
I am now a Team Beachbody Coach of my personal team, Team TRANS4M! This is an awesome team made up of a bunch of people that are eager to help others in their pursuit of fitness, health, and overall well being.
