My name is Luis and I'm a 26 year old husband, father of three beautiful children, and full-time student studying Computer Science. My weight has been up and down for the last decade and I was not in any way committed to working out or dieting. Since my twenties, I've tried everything from juicing, dieting, extreme dieting, exercising when I felt like, pills, and crashing. You name it, I've done it. I was also in the military (Army Vet) but prior to that, before I made the decision to join the Army, I put myself through too many extremities trying to join the Navy. Restricting myself to 800 calories a day, using ephedra and ephedrine fat burning pills, constantly using laxatives to lose water weight to make the height and weight requirement and going days without eating. It is not fun doing any of that and my body fought back tenfold after I joined the Army. I became seriously ill, stress was a major factor in my life and I developed emotional IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). I got out of the Army 18 months after I enlisted for health concerns and I was depressed. At the time I got out, I was a staggering 310 lbs! I had also developed an image that I wasn't fat either and only saw myself how I used to look. It took me two and a half years to finally snap out of it and get it together. I saw the infomercial for Insanity and I thought to myself "I could do that." A friend of mine lent me the DVDs and immediately after the first two days I quit. It was too much for me. My legs and knees couldn't handle the jumping. So instead of working out, I started to watch what I ate to start off and also took a health detox (not knowing Beachbody also had one as well). After the detox, I had dropped six pounds and with dieting lost another ten within the first month. The same friend that lent me the DVDs also let me borrow Tony Horton's 10 Minute Trainer (those were the only videos he had). With the 10MT, I lost ten more lbs and a few inches off my waist by the end of 2012, right around the holidays. I then went on Beachbody.com and saw the page for Les Mills Pump. Once I saw it, I said "THAT'S WHAT I WANT!" I knew I wanted to be lean and have sculpted muscles that weren't bulging like the guys who lift heavy. I placed the order and asked for the rush delivery. On 12/31/12, I officially started working out with Les Mills Pump. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't let myself get back to being that big and letting go again. What made the promise even more meaningful is that I have three children to keep up with. Their ages are six, four, and three. I want to be there for everything they do and not be one of those parents who stand or sit on the sidelines not doing anything. I finished the Les Mills Pump program on April 4th (there were about two setbacks but I kept going) and the picture in pink is what I currently look like now. At the moment I started the Insanity again, but this time I AM FINISHING it!! Good luck to you all and come back if you need help with anything. I'm here for you just like you're here for me. I'll post my before and after pics for Insanity as well too later on. Have fun and remember, Kia Kaha (Stay Strong).
