Hi,
My name is Mark and I’m 47 years old. I sit behind a computer desk all day trying to keep networks working so I don't get much exercise. My day is pretty full so it is hard to find time to work out except 3:30am every day. (Except Saturdays and Sunday...I get to sleep in!) Even though I must get up very early, I'm very dedicated to this workout routine (P90X) and very rarely miss.

P90X saved my life!
When I was younger I was a very tall and skinny person. I was so skinny that I was embarrassed about it to the point that I wouldn’t wear shorts because of my long bird legs. I would have a meal at home and then thirty minutes later get a Big Mac and fries. I constantly ate not because I was hungry but because I wanted to gain weight. The food I ate wasn’t fruits and veggies; I’m talking hard core sugars and fats like Twinkies and fried chicken. I was on first named basis with the fine folks of McDonalds. I used to keep a box of Hostess Ding Dongs or cup cakes next to my bed at night in case I got hungry in the middle of the night. I wanted weight gain and I didn’t care about health! This bad eating habit became a way of life and I followed it for years. Guess what? I am 46 years old and I finally got that weight that I tried so hard to get in a form of a massive gut! Not only did I gain a gut I gained health problems.

In January 2005 I had a bout of what could have been chest pains every time I went to bed. I decided to go get a check up at my family doctor and had my first cholesterol test. My doctor came back with the test results that were so bad he seemed personally offended. My cholesterol level was over 300 and my triglycerides were off the scale! I was ordered to take a stress test. The doctor hooked me up to a machine that reminded me of an octopus. The machine had suction cups that were placed all over my chest and ribs. Next, they ran a small camera thing (sorry I don’t know the correct terms for the equipment the doctors used) from my thigh up to my heart looking for blockage and amazingly, thank God, found none! Long story short, I was diagnosed with a heart problem called Arrhythmia. (The doctors had no answer for what the chest pain was except for…”probably gas.”) This is an irregular heart beat, in other words, my heart was beating out of time. The doctor immediately wanted to give me medicine to fix the problem but I wanted to find a more natural solution. I don’t feel comfortable putting chemicals in the form of drugs in my system. Yes I realize the irony of not wanting to put chemicals in me when I was eating Twinkies by the box full!

The hunt was on for a better solution. My wife had a CD lying around called Power 90. I didn’t know what it was at the time and I thought it was a women’s workout for buns and thighs or something similar. (I found out later that was not the case.) I wanted a manlier workout so I went to the Internet to research solutions from the web site on the aforementioned CD and came across P90X! The first round of the workouts made me think if the heart problem wasn’t going to kill me P90X was going to. I struggled through the workouts, followed the nutrition guide, and finished my first round! I have lost my gut, sleep better at night, feel energetic, and strong thanks to P90X.

After I had finished a round or two of P90X, I went back to the heart doctor for a check up. Once again they fired up the octopus thing and did a sonogram on my heart. The results of the tests this time were something that I am very proud of! The Arrhythmia was completely gone! The doctors use the image from the sonogram to calculate the heart’s strength by using a math formula along with the amount blood in the main valve when full and the amount after the heart pumps the blood out of the valve. (Something like that…I’m not sure if this is exactly correct.) The doctor is happy if he gets a value of 60 to 60% for a person my age. My percentage came back 75%! The doctor told me that for my age I have a very strong heart.

I have read many testaments of this program helping people with problems far worse than mine and my hat is off to them! So here is another testimony to add…P90X works! This has been a life changing experience for me and now it has become a way of life. The P90X workout system has helped me build a strong healthy body; but more importantly to me, it has helped me have a healthy heart. I highly recommend this program to anybody at any age for strength, stamina, and all around good health. It was hard at first, but, before you know it, you’ll be able to stick with everybody in the videos for the entire workout! Thanks to everybody that is a part of the Beachbody/Milliondollarbody from the employees to the public on the web site! You have all helped saved my life and I love you for that!
