LEXINGTON, KY I am very blessed in many ways. I have a wonderful and supportive wife; twins, a boy and a girl, and am fortunate enough to operate my own company in beautiful Lexington, KY. I took a leap to start my own business a little over seven years ago and what a great journey it has turned out to be. Not always easy mind you, but having persevered and trusted in God, has been rewarding nonetheless. I am very blessed in many ways. My kids and I play sports together and wrestle routinely. At the age of 46, I noticed that my body simply wouldn't do some of the things I used to be able to do, and honestly should still be able to if I were taking better care of myself. In one of our usual wrestling and horsing around times, one of the kids jokingly called me "fatty Daddy". We had fun with it, but it struck a chord. I knew I needed to do something about it. I do not want them to grow up with the eating habits and lack of understanding for maintaining fitness, that I had fallen into. Plus, I definitely want to feel better about myself and do my part to make sure I'm around to enjoy their active future.
I went through 3 rounds of P90X and can honestly say along with many others who have done this program, that I was in the best shape of my life. I dropped from a size 38 to a 32 and could finally see defined abs. Unfortunately, a horrific auto accident changed things and has set me back for nearly two years, but I am determined to get back to that level of fitness.
It has been a struggle, but I keep pushing play and determined to not give up. I have the joy of having made many wonderful friends on WOWY (Work Out With You) on the Team Beachbody website, who are both an inspiration and encouragement. I can already see and feel the transformation and others are noticing it too, especially my kids, which brings me a great deal of joy to know that I have overcome the battles with high cholestorol, threats of being put on high blood pressure meds, and now the pain associated with ruptured discs in my neck and bulging discs in my lower back to be able to play and wrestle and be an example for them as they grow.
This is a lifestyle change that has made a dramatic shift in my outlook on life and a sincere desire to ever improve my fitness so that I may honor God with my body as it says in 1 Cor. 6:19-20.

I grew up on a farm, and as most farm boys, were accustomed to hard work and plenty of exercise, so I really didn't have to worry about watching my weight. PK, or "pre-kids", I had been involved in martial arts for about eighteen years. I had achieved a second degree black belt and was in the best shape of my life. I also was involved in several other activities such as volleyball leagues, repelling and rock climbing, white water rafting and things of this nature. Once the kids came along and later starting my own company, my workouts and activities eventually became virtually nonexistant. I looked and felt terrible. I could barely keep up with the kids, and my body was beginning to fall apart. I seemed to be constantly getting injured and my cholesterol was climbing and required medication. My eating habits were absolutely horrible. I had let everything go.
I recently read a book entitled "The Seven Pillars of Health", by Dan Colbert, M.D.. This book was a real eye opener and was the beginning of a major transformation in the way I look at what goes into my body in the way of foods and drink (especially water). The notion of having a proper diet of living foods and nutritional supplements, along with proper sleep and rest, exercise, detoxification and living a joyful, stress-free life was something that I needed desparately. Having undergone a spiritual and mental transformation several years ago that led to a change of heart and getting rid of some very negative habits, to say the least, I knew it was time for the physical transformation.
When I saw the Beachbody infomercial, P90X, it appeared to have all the components of what I was looking for. I liked the idea of having a program that included a well thoughtout nutritional plan that includes living foods and proper nutritional supplements. One of the greatest benefits to me is the meal planning and cool recipes. It takes all the guesswork and frustration out of trying to plan meals. One less thing to worry about.
Plus, the number of workout routines and variety of exercises that Tony and the gang bring to each DVD, keep it exciting, so I don't become bored with it or plateau. I also like the way he seems to really care about the accuracy and form of the techniques so as to get the most out of each particular exercise, as well as his encouragement not to overdue it or do something improperly to avoid injury.
I also like the fact that there is a minimal amount of workout gear needed, and my own personal coach and online support right are at my fingertips.
After my initial 90-days, I'll have to admit that wasn't exactly exstatic over the results. I really thought I would be 30lbs. lighter, chiseled and able to do a gazillion pullups. However, I realized that I had replaced fat with muscle, reduced my body fat percentage dramatically and was enjoying a new lifestyle of eating well and exercising on a regular basis. I felt good about my physical self again, which is something you can't put a value to. However, one thing that I could put a value to was my cholesterol levels, which had dropped significantly. My last visit to the doctor, I convinced him to give it a try without the meds, and promised to adhere to the new physical lifestyle and improved eating habits.
After taking a couple weeks off, I was pumped about doing my second round of P90X and the transformation it and my diet would bring to my body and attitude. I have never ordered anything from an infomercial before now, but this has turned out to be a real blessing. Others have noticed and I am happy to share with them the reasons for the change. Thanks Team Beachbody!
