Before Power 90, I was miserable. I wasn’t really living—just existing. I’d lost a baby in the 6th month of my pregnancy and was put on bedrest for the last 6 months of my second pregnancy. Once I finally had my daughter, I was thrilled, but I just wasn’t motivated to lose weight. By the time my daughter turned 9, I was in a terrible downward spiral. I had no energy and had chronic knee and back pain, which kept me from fully participating in family activities.

I had become so used to my weight that I really didn’t believe I was that fat and out of shape. My moment of truth came when my husband and I applied for long term care health insurance. We were accepted, but I couldn’t get the best rate because of one reason—my weight. I’m a nurse, so I’m well aware of the consequences of obesity. However, I just didn’t see it as a threat to ME and my health. Paying extra for the insurance made me mad at myself, and embarrassed, too, for not realizing the truth and dealing with it.

The night I saw the P90 infomercial, I was ready to make a change in my life. Power 90 looked like just what I needed to help me make that change. I immediately made the phone call that changed my life!

When I started P90 on January 31, 2003, I weighed 220.5 pounds. The program was difficult at first, but I was determined. At first I even hit “pause” during the yoga warm-up because I felt so weak and out of breath. My legs and arms seemed to weigh a ton, but as I did P90, it became easier. I used Michi’s Ladder to develop a healthy diet, instead of my usual diet high in sugar and fat. I took Activit Multi-Vitamins, Women’s Health Formula, and Performance Formula. By the end of 90 days, I’d lost 44 pounds and 27 ¾ inches! I couldn’t believe it!

When Beachbody came out with P90X, I was a little nervous trying such a challenging program at my age. I decided to give it a try, and was pleased to find out I was up to the challenge. With P90X I lost an additional 27 pounds and 10 1/8 more inches. I was in the best shape of my life! From the time I started P90 until now I’ve lost a grand total of 72 1/2 pounds and 42 inches, including 15” off my waist and 9” off my hips!

More important than my appearance is my improved health and well being. My energy level is high and I no longer have major back or knee pain. My cholesterol decreased to 167, so I was able to stop taking medication. I have become much more confident and am now excited to try new things.

The support systems Beachbody created are critical to my success. The Message Boards, Live Chats, Fitness Advisor and fitness articles, Trainer’s Tips, WOWY, nutrition information, and Tony’s Fitness Camps have all played a big role in helping me learn, in encouraging me, and in keeping me motivated. Lisa Decker Griffith, my personal coach, has been there for me whenever I needed her. Her advice and support have been invaluable! Getting to meet and work with Carl, Jon, and Tony, as well as Beachbody customers has convinced me that Beachbody really believes in their products and wants to change the health and fitness of America and the world.

Since becoming a June winner in the MDB Monthly Contest, I’ve continued to use a mixture of P90, Power Half Hour, and Power 90 Master Series, along with daily yoga, to maintain my results and remain flexible. Because of the many Beachbody programs (I own them all!), I’m in the best shape of my life! I now love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for fitness with others, and Beachbody has given me a great opportunity to do this as a coach.

Thanks to Tony Horton and P90X, my interests have also expanded—I’ve developed a true love and appreciation for power yoga. I’m now pursuing my new goal—to become a great yoga teacher!

I’m proof that an overweight, out of shape, middle-aged person can get in wonderful shape with hard work, dedication, and the help of Beachbody’s fantastic programs. My commitment truly is “for the rest of my life”!
