I am a single mother who works and goes to school part time. My stress levels are high, and my fitness levels are low. I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for over 5 years, and my son is a vegetarian as well.
I began Power 90 on 10/30/08 in an effort to lose weight, gain endurance, strength and stamina to get through my days and play with my just-turned-3 year old. After 30 days, a close friend I am a single mother who works and goes to school part time. My stress levels are high, and my fitness levels are low. I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for over 5 years, and my son is a vegetarian as well.
I began Power 90 on 10/30/08 in an effort to lose weight, gain endurance, strength and stamina to get through my days and play with my just-turned-3 year old. After 30 days, a close friend passed away, then the holidays, etc, and I really didn't maintain the workout schedule while my diet went south. I gained back almost all the weight within 2 months.
In high school, I my weight ranged from 110-120. I was a steady size 8. In college, I got up to 130, and a size 10. After quitting college, I had a several jobs, one being full time receptionist at a body shop (lots of sitting). I also entered an unhealthy 4-year relationship. My stress eating and sedentary lifestyle got me up to 167 pounds and a size 16! After the break-up, I quit my job to teach what I had been going to school for (medical massage), and lost 42 lbs (hmm, I guess unhappiness makes more than your heart heavy) and went back down to a size 8. I started dating my best friend of 8 years, threw away all my "fat clothes", and then promptly got pregnant. At the doc's appointment the day before my son was born, I weighed in at 162 (5 lbs lighter than my heaviest with my ex). After the birth of my son, I lost 20 lbs, and got a job as a waitress. I got back down to a size 10, around 140 lbs. Then came another breakup, another desk job, and moving back home halfway across the state. Which brings me to today.
My basic stats are: 4' 10.5", 147 lbs., BMI 30.7% (argh!)
To prepare for P90, I completed 15 workouts with The Firm (a gift to myself on my son's 1st birthday which promptly got put away, save the occasional times it became a mini playground for him to climb on).
Usually a yoga/pilates kind of girl, I have dabbled in Tai Chi. Nice and easy. I have found as I get older that I do enjoy sweating and feeling my muscles work. Much to my surprise, this time around with the step aerobics, I liked it.
My goals are to become energetic enough to play with my son without getting winded, and be able to effectively work with patients (did I mention I'm going into nursing?) without hurting myself. I also want to have enough energy to be able to wake up and keep going all day. My ultimate goal is P90X!

I got great results after the first 30 days of P90, but lost momentum just before the holidays and gained most of it back. I became a coach, and have begun the Slim in 6 program. Today is day 6 of the first week, I'm already starting to get used to the workouts! Next week, I'm also beginning the Yoga Booty Ballet to go along with the Slim in 6.
