Although I have never been "obese" I have often struggled with healthy weight gain. At 5'10" I reached a weight of 192 lbs during my mid to late twenties. Of course, I did not recognize the gain as something to be concerned about- especially after spending ten years trying to get above 150 lbs. However, when I stepped on a BMI and discovered that I was overweight, I panicked.

I was a carbohydrate junky weighing 185lbs, bench pressing 90 lbs and struggling to run more than 5 miles on a treadmill.

Two years ago, I was bench pressing 210 lbs, eating brown rice and whole wheat bread, and competing in my first 5k. Now I am training to run my first marathon!
