Easley, SC I am a RN in several ED's. I work 12 hour nights. a mother of a set of twins, 16 (boy, girl), and a 12 yr old daughter. I have worked out regularly for the last 7- 8 years with really nothing to show for it. Have changed my diet and have lost 40 lbs in the last 9 months. I have decided to stop the Y for now and try this with my daughters at home. I'm hoping this will be easier with my work I am a RN in several ED's. I started this change because I had not been feeling well, checked a fasting blood sugar and it was 150(too high). Changed my diet that day, last blood sugar was within normal limits.

I am a 41 y.o. registered nurse in 2 busy ED's with 3 children. I was very athletic as a child through college. Gymnastics from age 4- 7, then Karate from 7-college. And while in High school also did swimming, cheerleading, volleyball, softball, and track. I am 5'1 and when I got married at 21 was 120 lbs. Well, I became pregnant with twins and gained 80 lbs. I was still in school and it took 4 years to get the weight off, was at 130 lbs. Then I decided it was time to have another baby. That landed another 45 lbs, which truely never came off. My weight would go up or down 5 -10 lbs. I stopped working out for about 4 or 5 yrs. When I reached 180 I changed my diet and began to exercise regularly again. I lost about 30 lbs. Gradulaly over the next 7-8 years I began to gain weight again, even though I was working out 3-4 times a week at an hour a pop, and had already given up any soda & drinks with sugar in it. My weight got up to 220 lbs. Being a nurse, I noticed signs and symptoms of my blood sugar being elevated, so I checked a fasting blood sugar. It was 150, TOO HIGH!! My blood pressure was also running high. I changed my diet again and began the slow treck of losing weight. I was not losing satisfactorily for me, so I decided it was time to change up my exercise program. My brother in law gave me p90x to try. He stated he did the first 7 min of ab ripper x, and had to stop. He was unable to walk for 3 days. So it was on. I was going to prove to my brother in law, who is a police officer, that an old, short, fat woman would complete the program. It couldn't be that hard. Yah, about that, after day one of chest and arms, I figured you lost weight cause you could not bring your hands to your mouth. I was the comic relief for my co-workers for 3 days. But I have Kept pushing play!!Despite problems of plantar fascititis, fibromyalgia and asthma. At this time I have lost a total of 45 lbs, 4 inches off my waist, 7 in off of my hips, 6 in off of my chest, 3.5 in off of each thigh, and 2.5 in of each arm. I still have 50 lbs to lose and countless inches need to disappear. Two weeks after I completed my first round of P90x, I was doing the ultimate of multitasking, sleeping and driving and flipped my vehicle 3 times. I sustained injuries that took 3 months to heal, unable to workout. The month after my wreck my youngest daughter had to have her gallbladder removed. And the month following that my eldest daughter was also involved in a car accident where she had fractured her jaw in 2 places and had a traumtic brain injury. My husband had left the US to work only 12 hours prior. For the last 4 months I have been the sole provider of care continuing to work 2 jobs and take her to Dr. appts. rehab etc. I say all this to come to this point, I have been unable to fit in any workout schedule let alone sleep at this time. Husband came home in May 2010, 2 weeks later my son had to have his appendex out. Then in August while sparring I tore my miniscus and ACL in my right knee. It really was not that exciting, all I did is step in front of me after I had delevered a side kick. I had surgery in Nov.and I am currently still in rehab for my knee and it is slow going!I have gained back 30 lbs of the 50 I have lost. But I plan to restart pushing play until I meet my goal. No matter how hard it is.
