My Journey. . .
As we age we begin to piece our “ahhha moments” in to better meaning into our lives. After having my second baby, I really struggled to get back into shape. I purchased the latest fitness DVDs and tried to follow the programs, but it wasn’t until I saw Chalene’s infomercial for Turbo Jam and ordered it, that I found an effective workout! I lost my last 10 pounds plus another 10! The difference was that I looked forward to doing Turbo every day and I loved it so much that I really kept trying to push myself to the next level. Ahha – my soul-mate workout! I love it so much that I have gotten certified to teach it.
Over the past few years, I have had other stumbling blocks in my fitness quest. I have gone through surgeries which required minimal to no working out for 6 weeks at a time, but this past year I was rear-ended leaving me to recover from back, neck and eye issues. My recovery has been much slower than I was planning on, but the biggest downer is that I haven’t been able to Turbo. I now have a bulging disc in my lower back, which has been very painful. I quit teaching Turbo Kick after the accident, for what I thought was going to be only a moment in time, now leaving my somewhat depressed and searching for other ways to stay in shape nearly a year after my accident.
Chalene has once again come through for me; she has completed her book “Push”, which has given me a new “ahhhha moment”. Fortunately when I started Turbo Jamming I was able to take the weight and reshape my body with only working out. I looked at the eating plans and did use Michi’s Ladder as a reference, but dreaded the idea of counting calories. Within Chalene’s book, she talks about the 80/20 Rule. 80% of your physical result will come from food – ahhha this is why I can’t get rid to that little belly pouch! I need to eat cleaner. However, it wasn’t until I started counting calories that I realized how easy it is to over eat. There are so many times during the day that I would randomly walk to the kitchen to grab a snack. Healthily or not, if you over eat 100 calories a day you will add an extra 10 pounds a year to your body!
With Chalene’s guidance and motivation, I am continuing my fitness journey, confident that little by little I will reach all of my goals! I’m always looking for new success buddies and would love to hear about your journey.

I started the workout like everyone else, awkward, breathless and hopeful. Within 6 weeks of doing mostly the 20 minute workout 3 times a week, I started to see a change. I lost 6.5 inches and 7 lbs. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight (145 lbs) and I liked how my body was changing. My stomach is not quite there, but my hips and thighs are actually smaller! My changes aren’t earthshaking, but I feel more confident and don’t mind shopping for clothes (when I get the chance)!
I didn’t log onto WOWY until November 2007 because I felt I was doing fine. But as the holidays neared and life got busy, I was having trouble motivating myself to keep on a workout routine. It’s been a great resource just using WOWY because you can see how many times you’ve workout, rested or missed. It is a great accountability partner for me and the kick I needed. The more I have used it, the more support I’ve gotten. It has been a wonderful experience and life changing. Because of the Team BeachBody I have come in contact with wonderful people who have supported me unconditionally and inspired me to take my workouts to the next level.
I have gotten my Turbo Kick Certification (from Mindy in the Turbo Jam dvd) and have started teaching classes at Tomball Fitness. I have also started a small wave of fitness within my neighborhood. It’s great fun and BeachBody makes it easy to do! Come on you know you want to join the fun! Life’s a party live it up to your fullest potential!
