Then there was me - Football Offensive Lineman

I was the fat friend of the group and even though they genuinely loved me for who I was, I didn't love me for who I was.

Being a really outgoing person who was happy about a lot of things, body not included, helped me gain a lot of popularity. I was Football Captain, Winter Homecoming King, and Vice President of my youth group. I was also voted Most Inspirational Senior. But those accomplishments don't mean much when you wish you weren't who you were.

I was a College offensive lineman. Being a shorter guy I had to keep my weight up. I started college at 220 lbs. After my freshman year, I had blown up to 260 lbs.

I had gained a Freshman 40.

That summer I lost 20 pounds trying to impress a girl, but with most young relationships that ended and so did my weight loss.

College ended and with that, so did the all year football workouts. What didn't change, was my eating habits. I went from running around and hitting people for 3 hours a day to sitting for 8 hours a day. Those eating habits had helped me gain to my biggest weight ever. 310 lbs. Now 300 pounds isn't bad if you're say... Shaquille O'Neal. But I'm not 7'2". I'm not even 6'2". I am an INTIMIDATING 5 feet 10 inches. Now I do have some muscle but that is completely hidden under all the extra weight.

I now work as a Sheriff's Deputy and being healthy is extremely important. I see some of the other deputy's and think that if anything were to seriously happen with that person, they would be in serious trouble. This can be a dangerous job and fitness can minimize part of the danger of it.

I had tried to do P90X earlier in my life. My coach Robert Hudgens was probably the coolest person I've ever spent 3 minutes on the phone with. He told me that he would do anything in his power to help me reach my goals. I couldn't believe that someone from TV would call little ole me, or should I say big ole me. Well I ended up quitting as I'm sure many people have, but I promised myself that one day I would meet that guy face to face with my new body.

That's why I'm here. It's time.

7/5 - On June 10th I was involved in a motorcycle accident going 65 mph on the highway. I cannot tell you how blessed I am to be completely ok. All I got was a hurt shoulder, ankle and road rash. No one else was involved in my accident and I wasn't run over. I truly feel I am blessed to be where I am. I'm finally healed enough to go at this again. Wish me luck....
