Over the years, I have tried just about every fad diet and exercise program on the market only to be disappointed by the results or overwhelmed by the commitment necessary to achieve those results. I have always had a hard time staying motivated when I am not seeing what I think I should be seeing in the amount of time I want to see it! I began my pregnancy with my son already overweight and, while I only gained 25 pounds, I felt disgusting when it was all said and done. I had an emergency c-section that left my stomach in not the most beautiful condition. I thought that I would never get out of the rut. I went on Weight Watchers while my husband was deployed for the second time and had a good deal of success with the diet portion of the program, but realized that I was using my "points" on the wrong types of food. I still had not taught myself to eat the right foods to fill me up longer and give my body what it needed while still losing weight. When my husband returned, so did my happy fat. I became complacent again and enjoyed going out to eat with him and splurging on things he hadn't gotten to eat for 7 months. I rationalized my bad eating based on giving him what he had missed out on for that long! I began my second pregnancy heavier than I had my first and again only gained 25 pounds. That 25 additional pounds on my 5'6" frame were hidden okay with a pregnant belly, but when the bump was gone, I was horrified! I had a second c-section, so I told myself that I would just have to live with the fact that I would never get a normal stomach back. I remember women a few months after giving birth asking how far along I was. I knew I had to do something! I began working at a gym in the nursery and was encouraged by fellow staff members to utilize the free membership, which I did in limited amounts. I even went so far as to obtain a personal trainer to try to shed the unwanted pounds and inches, but found myself cheating on foods while I was out of the gym and allowing myself to slack when I wasn't with the trainer. I couldn't stay focused because I didn't feel as though I was getting my money's worth out of my short sessions once a week and felt the weight of the financial burden of the monetary commitment getting to me. All of this changed back in April of 2010 when a friend purchased Insanity and then told me that she couldn't do it without me. Both of our husbands were deployed and hers was returning in a month and a half, so she wanted to hit it hard to look good for him. I agreed to work on it with her, while in the back of my mind thinking that it would never work. I couldn't believe how much she had spent on the program without knowing if it would produce results. We began day 1 of the routine and I felt like I would never even make it through the warm up. My fitness level had reached an all-time low and I was struggling to keep up. I had to modify most of the moves just to keep going. I remember finishing the routine soaked in sweat and ready to fall over. I understood why the program was called "Insanity" at that point! Even though I struggled, I kept up with the program and did a great job eating right to go with it. I stuck with it because even though the workouts were sometimes painful to me (even modified), my body was beginning to transform! After less than three months of eating right and working out with Insanity 3-4 times per week, I lost an incredible 25 pounds. I have kept the weight off and am ready to begin another round of Insanity, this time not so modified! I am looking forward to helping other people achieve their weight loss and fitness goals alongside me. Let's start the journey!
**Update: I just completed the Shakeology 3 day cleanse and lost an incredible 4.2 pounds! I didn't check other measurements, but I know that my stomach lost at least 1/2 an inch. I definitely made the right choice in choosing Shakeology and love, love, love the taste!! I'm looking forward to more weight loss success with Shakeology!**
