As I stated, I have been a runner. Cross country in high school, then road race after road race. I started down the marathon path when I was 35, completed 5 marathons and 14 half marathons. If you are reading this and have been diagnosed with this injury, allow me to do everything possible express my displeasure with this procedure. Although I have less pain than pre-surgery, I live in constant pain. I have learned since my surgery that the human body will repair this type of injury on it's own and will absorb the pieces of jettisoned disc. Get a second opinion, at least. I manage the best I am able, and have found acupuncture to be a source of comfort. My wife and I rise at 4:00am each day and get wake up Tony. I must say that I have found a great deal of pleasure in making fun of everyone in the videos. I realize this is sophomoric and uncalled for, but I make my wife laugh and that's really all that matters. My goal weight is 165 which when it is all said and done will give me a Body Mass Index of 24 and a total weight loss of 75 lbs. Remember, I ran a marathon at 240!

My story is not unlike many that you have seen on this web site. After a lifetime of running,(30 years)and not seeing a change in my body, I decided to get serious about my physical fitness. Together with my wife, we stood in front of our fireplace, several days after the new year in 2007, and shed our clothing for some very uncomfortable pictures. It is worth noting that these pictures were taken following our successful completion of the Columbus Marathon. I was mortified by the photos. I had no idea that my body looked that bad. I still remember the first day with Tony and P90X. I'll never forget that part in the warm up where he is commenting on his shoes. I remember thinking, "shoes? Who the hell cares about shoes. I'm about to die." My wife and I took to the program like fish to dry land. Moaning and groaning every step of the way. Then it was time to take our 30 day photos. Odd. There is a change in my body. It looks different. I remember that it gave us fuel, motivation to continue, and carried us on to where we are today. Over the past 18 months, we have had a few injuries and set backs but have remained true to our objective. We have completed one round of the Plus and will go for round two in another couple of weeks. I go back and forth from X to Plus and my wife likes to throw in Rocking Body for a change up. But we are sticking with a program unlike we have ever done in the past. I may not be a swim suit model, but I am proud of my progress and can honestly say that for the first time since high school, I am fit.
