Very involved with my daughter and wife. This has put a serious crimp in the fitness category. Since my daughter has established a routine, I have tried a few times to get back in the swing of things. Each time it seems to get derailed by emergencies, injuries(mine and family), work schedule changes, illness, etc.. I keep coming back for more, though, and I always will. Whether I get derailed at the 1 month mark, 2 month mark, or the 4 day mark(I can't believe it either), I will continue to come back for more, and more, and more, and more. My motivations: to feel good, to have an abundance of energy, to live a long healthy life, to be there for my daughter as long as possible, to be there for my wife as long as possible, to continue to be able to do my job as best as I can, and to look good(vanity is allowed, it just can't be first on the list).

June 2007 - Each time I get started (or restarted), I am very happy with the results. The workouts are good, solid workouts(P90X). I just keep getting injured, not from the workouts, but from work related hazzards, and stupid things(like lifting my daughter over my head, arms fully extended, and she starts squirming and pushing off of my shoulders with her feet, leading to a pulled back muscle- the latest). But everytime I recover from an illness, injury(mine or a relative), emergency, etc.. I come back for more(after I've recovered). I will keep coming back for more. September 2007 - I'm back again and ready for another swing! Wish me luck! May 2008 Just started again and overdid it, and then got a stupid injury non workout related. Have to nurse the old rotator for a few days or weeks(we'll see how bad it is).
June 2008 - I'm back and keep coming for more. The rotator feels OK and I'm just taking it easy. Going thru the motions with lighter weights and stopping if I feel ANYTHING in the shoulder! So far so good. It gets better everyday. Pushups and pullups are fine. The biggest aggrivation is sleeping on the right side and waking up out of sorts. But it feels fine an hour later and then I workout mid afternoon. I even did it on an 85 degree day with no a/c! Lot's of water and it helped me acclimatize before this heatwave! Bringin' it and lovin' every minute of it! If I keep this up, I'll be finished right before my 33rd birthday! What a great birthday present! I hope to treat myself to P90X+!!! I'll keep you posted and look forward to seeing you in WOWY! Sept 2008 - So much for finishing before my birthday. Got derailed again on like week 2 or 3. I started mid August again and even brought it with me down to Florida on vacation to my dad's. I worked out during my daughter's nap time and even one at 10p! I also was glad I brought the book. I had a power outage during the start of plyo and had to go by the book with no a/c and no fan 88 with Florida's humidity! Washcloth and ice water next to me to wipe and cool down. Bringin' it no matter what this time! Now that I'm back to work, I may miss a day or two, but this time is THE time(better not be jinxing myself). See you in WOWY! July 2009 - I'm 2 months into another P90X. Got derailed with injury last time. I'd been really tired and just chalked it up to getting older and parenthood. My wife finally nagged me enough to go to a doctor. Turns out I have sleep apnea. I stopped breathing 25x's an hour throughout the night. So 5 hours of sleep during the sleep study was only really an hour and fifteen minutes of real sleep. So now I sleep with something of a cross between a darth vader mask and a piggy nose with head gear(the braces contraption). I started feeling rested in the morning and actually had a good night sleep. With all of this newfound energy, I started working out again. P90X baby! I've even had a few minor injuries. But instead of taking a week off(never got back to it) I just kept bringing it but not as intense. If I felt a tinge, I'd stop of back off. Once I got back to normal, I'd bring it full force. That seems to be the key for me. I'm 2 months into it and did 2 extra weeks of phase 1. So it may be more like P104X. No problem! Good luck all, see you in WOWY! Oh yeah, and I changed my screen name. The guys in the firehouse have given me that nickname now(a new one!). Pete90x was already taken so I added my Engine company # to the end.
