I loved it so well that it stuck! The name was created because, at the time, I was a police officer. We had a fitness oriented command staff, and there was a workout room at the police department. I believe that the sign hanging in the workout room rings so true: When you choose a career in law enforcement, you give up the right to be unfit. I have always liked very physical activities including skydiving, hiking, camping, bicycling, riding my motorcycles, and working out. I guess another comment I can identify with is: If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much space. That means I will live every day like it's my last day, so I can truly get the most out of life! As far as my direction in life, I have had a few twists and turns in recent years. After spending 2 years as a civilian employee for the police department (evidence custodian), 7 years as a patrol officer and 4.5 years as a detective (13.5 years total); I chose to resign my position to pursue something different. I landed in the restaurant industry, and worked for a little over 2 years as a restaurant manager for the largest restaurant (1200 seats and 3 levels) between Chicago and Saint Louis. Recently, I decided to shift gears, yet again. I have decided to pursue my coaching more intensely, as well as focus on my pool game(billiards). In addition to that, I am going to begin schooling for my personal trainer certification. Ultimately, my goal is to help others to achieve the best level of fitness they can. This means a fit mind, body and spirit. I also want to help others learn to re-think their personal goals so that they can achieve the greatest level of success possible. Beachbody has helped me over the years to not only lose weight, but to view the world in a totally different perspective. The biggest lesson is, perhaps, that regardless of your personal situation, life is truly what you make of it. Instead of letting the daily struggles hold you back, you can choose to get creative and find ways around these "obstacles." In fact, true creativity will not only help you get around them, but help you to USE these obstacles to make you even better and stronger! The three aspects of all humans are systemically entwined: Mind, Body, Spirit. If you make choices that change or modify one, the others will also be changed. Thus, if you change your mind, you will also change your body and spirit. Are you ready to come along and see where life can take you?? Let me know! We will make that trek together! I look forward to it! My Progress My fitness goal: Transformation story

I am a 42 year old former police detective who FINALLY realized how sitting behind a desk for the majority of my day can really pack on the pounds! It took me about 3 years before I really started to notice that several things were working against me! Age, gravity, and working behind a deak to name a few. Aside from that, about 6 years ago, my father took his own life and it was a serious blow to the entire family. To make matters worse, there were (and still are) many issues surrounding his estate, which are not yet settled. I spent every weekend for several months going to the town where he lived so I could try to take care of his personal property. I was physically and mentally drained, and on top of that the last year at work was extraordinarily busy. Over the past few years, I got back into working out. I found it was very easy to fall into the Beach Body work outs. I am able to do them on my own time, in my own living room, and at my own pace. Over the years, I have done P90, Slim In 6, Yoga Booty Ballet, Turbo Jam, 10 Minute Trainer, Hip Hop Abs, Power Half Hour, P90X, ChaLEAN Extreme, and a few others too!! I recently ordered P90X2 and will start that after taking a few weeks to rebuild some strenght and agility! And soon I will order my Les Mills PUMP!! I'm REALLY looking forward to that one! In December 2006, I started using YBB. I really enjoyed the positive flow of it all. It was just what I needed at a very low point in my life. I had gained weight and told myself, "If I get up to 150 pounds I'll start working out again." Then "150" came and went. Then I told myself, "When I get up to 160 I'll start working out again." Well, I stepped on the scales at my all time high of 162 and was absolutely disgusted with myself. I had nobody to blame except myself. I was the one who let life get in the way of my personal health and happiness. When I started YBB, I loved that each workout started with setting a positive daily intention. It helped me to focus my positive energy, get my day started off on the right foot, and get use to moving again. I stuck with YBB for several months before adding in some variety with Slim Series, Slim Series Express, Hip Hop Abs and Turbo Jam. With each new addition, I started seeing some very different and exciting changes in my body. I completed P90X for the first time and loved it!! When I started using P90X, I saw almost immediate changes in my body. My arms started showing definition that I've never had before. My legs toned out and my abs even showed some definition! And to top it all off, I wanted to be able to do 1 unassisted chin up by the end of Round 1 of the X. Well, by week 5 I had 1 unassisted chin up. At the end of the 90 days, I was able to do 7 - 8 unassisted chin ups! Since then, I have done several rounds of P90X along with ChaLEAN Extreme. Over the past few months, I have been working a new desk job which changed my life yet again. I didn't stick with any particular program, and just worked out randomly. I recently started back with P90X and plan to get my strength back. Once I have it going in the right direction, I am going to tackle P90X2!! I am so excited about it!! The best part about this whole transformation is that I have learned so much more about health and fitness than ever before. I can honestly say that I am in better health and physical shape than I have ever been! I am not yet done transforming my body, but I am so close now that I've reached the stage of fine tuning! My motivation with exercise and fitness has reached an all time high in my life and I owe it all to the fabulous men and women who make up our support system! I have started running and plan on doing my first mini triathalon next spring! Let the training begin! I know that all of Beachbody's new programs will truly help me to continue improving upon my physical and mental health and strength! Although I've had my ups and downs with my workouts over the years, the Beach Body family of work outs have been a staple for me. I have talked with many people who want to get into shape, but who do not feel comfortable with going to a gym. Others are embarrassed by their physical appearance. Many are afraid to ask for help for fear of coming across as "stupid." Well, that is what is so great about the Beach Body work outs. You go at your own pace, you can hit pause, you work out on YOUR schedule, good form is demonstrated and there are reminders throughout every workout. And on top of all that, there is the online support and service from not only every one else out there, but from the Beach Body staff as well! Talk about a perfect combination! If that's not good enough, try this on for size: It's much less expensive than joining a gym or buying expensive home gyms! And the online support from the message boards is absolutely amazing! I can honestly say that I've been involved in the message boards since January 2007, and my motivation and consistency with my nutrition and exercise is at an all time high in my life. In addition to taking my personal fitness to a whole new level, I am also now considering a career change. The work I've done so far as a coach has prompted me to want to become a personal trainer. It seems like the next logical step in my life. And it's something that I can take with me where ever I decide to live once I retire from the police department. I am not perfect, but I strive daily to maintain a happiness within myself. That happiness comes from many facets in life including my friends/family, career, hobbies, physical health, diet and exercise program. In addition to all of that, I enjoy helping others with my life experiences and insight. I do it in my professional life and also in my personal life. The satisfaction of knowing I have helped another or made a difference in someone's life gives me strength to continue improving upon and learning in my own life. After talking with a friend about becoming a coach (We started Power 90 and Slim In 6 together 5.5 years ago), I decided that this would be a great way for me to help motivate others as well as myself. It is amazing when you get those emails from someone who has struggled and now they are making positive things happen in their life. We are all a work in progress but we can ALWAYS strive to become our personal best!
