It had definitely helped my martial arts and my overall fitness. I love to motivate and help people. Even though I am only on week 6 of P90X, doesn't mean I don't know fitness, exercise, nutrition, or working out. I can be reached on Facebook - Look up Roger Ringer in Washington DC. I also travel on business to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area every 2 months or so, so anyone in the Texas area want to hit me up, just drop me a line or call me. I am retired Navy and currently work in Federal Law Enforcement. I am married to a wonderful woman who is my best friend in the world and we have 3 children; Mackenzie (8), Alexandra (6) and Hunter (2). I am originally from Hudson, New York which is just south of Albany. My wife is originally from the area we live in now. NOTE - I do not want to put before and after photos on my profile as of yet until I finished with the program. I do have them, Day 1 - February 8, 2010 and Day 30 - March 8, 2010. I was always the skinny kid school even though I have been doing martial arts since I was 7 yeras old. I joined the Navy right out of high school and was 6 feet tall and only weighted 118lbs. After boot camp, I got up to 128lbs. I stayed there for almost 2 years, I made rank and people that I was put in charge of didn't want to listen because I was so skinny. On my first 6 month deployment oversees, I decided to change. I worked nights, so I got up during the day and eat all 6 meals a day that was served for the first 3 months. Then for the 2nd 3 months, I eat only the meals that I was awake for during my shift and worked out 2 hours in the gym everyday. I got home and walked up to my mom and she thought I was a friend. She didn't know who I was. I walked off 178lbs. While in the Navy, I really got in shape when I worked in special operations. We had to run, swim, do obstacle courses, scuba dive, sky dive, etc. So I became ripped and very fit. Then that stopped when I hurt my back and after healing, got chin splints. So I hit the books and went to school to finish my Bachelors in Strategic Intelligence. I eventually completed my Masters in International Terrorism and am currently working on a Bachelors in Criminal Justice concentrating in Homeland Security and Counter-Terrorism. I ended my career working as an instructor/trainer in defensive tactics, OC Spray, Baton and other law enforcement areas teaching the Iraqi and Afghanistan troops and police these areas to fight the Taliban and terrorists. I got into mixed martial arts while in the Navy and am a third degree black belt in Kenpo, a Level 4 Israeli Close Combat Instructor (Krav Maga), and am familiar with Maui Tai, BJJ, Wing Chung, and Tai Chi. I obtained a record of 7-0 with a 35 second knockout in one of the fights. I started to get back into training when I had a physical last July and weight 248lbs, the heaviest I have ever been. The doctor didn't like the sound of my heart. With a wife and 3 small children, it put a scare into me. So I began training martial arts again. **MORE IN TRANSFORMATION BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE IT STARTS** My Progress My fitness goal: Tone Up Transformation story

I had a physical last July and the doctor told me that he didn't like the sound of my heart. I weighted 248lbs which was the heaviest I have ever weighed in my life. Along with that being a disabiled veteran with numerous ailments included Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD), GERD, and GOUT in both feet. It does make it very difficult for me to exercise through pain. With a wife and 3 small children it put a scare into me so I started working out again doing martial arts, running, walking and weight training. I started teaching a friend martial arts and I really started getting into again and I met an instructor who owned a school in my neighborhood and we talked and he started training me part time. I developed an intense workout and training schedule and was training between 2.5 and 4 hours a day depending on the day and from July 2009 to January 2010, I lost 24lbs and really felt good. But I didn't feel good enough. There were days that I didn't have the cardio that I wanted when training. So the friend, my coach Stephen Martin, told me about P90X. I was always interested in it, but was never able to do it. He gave me the opportunity to do it and I started it February 8, 2010 and have never looked back. My goals: Build cardio for martial arts Loose body fat/tone up Build flexibility Build stamina for martial arts I have reached all my goals above so far, but as Tony says, I am still going extreme. In going extreme I use the following equipment to add more to the P90X program: Tower 200 Resistance Bands (All weight training) Shadow Boxer Trainer (Kenpo X) I put out some more physical goals that I want to reach and I am heading toward those as well. I feel great and I owe it all to my coach, Tony Horton, and P90X. I am having and showing a lot of progress, but my one draw back is nutrition. Working full time in law enforcement, my wife working, and having 3 kids, it is really hard to follow or do the nutrition plan for the P90X program. Not to mention the economy of today and having to buy the right food. The healthier you eat, the more expensive it can be. I eat as best I can. I do burn more calories than I take it. I watch my fat intake and drink lots and lots of water. Any help from anyone in this area is greatly appreciated. NOTE - I don't want to put before and after pictures on my profile as of yet because I want to finish the program. I do have them so far for Day 1 - February 8, 2010 and Day 30 - March 8, 2010. | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
