Transformation story

When I started trying to loose weight, I was suck in the mentality that it was
an all or nothing change. For me, that can work in short bursts. To reach a
quick goal or something.  More ...
When I started trying to loose weight, I was suck in the mentality that it was
an all or nothing change. For me, that can work in short bursts. To reach a
quick goal or something. However, I quickly realized that when you have 100
lbs to lose, all or nothing can quickly sabotage your efforts.

I would work out real hard and be super strict with my nutritional plan for the
whole week. Then, I would gorge on all the yummy foods I shunned for the
previous 5 days. I was causing my metabolism to slow down and putting
myself at risk for things like metabolic syndrome and diabetes.

Eventually, I realized that being healthy was about making good lifestyle
choices and doing things that just become part of the way you live. It wasn't
easy, but I had confidence that I could make incremental changes that would
make the difference. It started with not adding cream and sugar to my
coffee. Then, onto drinking more water and being happy to hit the gym just a
couple times each week. Now, if I don't make it to the gym for a few days, I
feel yucky all over.

Nothing gets me feeling more energized that a good work out or a quick run.
Our pantry is stocked with healthy and natural foods. Life is different and it is
very good. I am enjoying the ability to chase around my two little angels and
not get all sweaty and winded. I have been able to be more relaxed and
energized.. My wife is especially grateful, as the changes mean more years
we will be able to share.

In all, I have lost around 70 to 80 pounds since starting this journey. I have
hovered somewhere between 200 and 215 lbs for a while now and am excited
about taking off that last 20-30 pounds here in 2009. See you all in the
