Wildomar, CA I am a humble housewife providing a private Catholic education for my children in Southern California. Though the majority of my time is dedicated to this purpose, I am often found training at world famous Team Quest (not because I am great but because I happen to live close to it) or in a park beating a friend with sticks or getting stabbed by one. I suppose that as far as midlife crises go, this is morally superior to than, say, taking a younger lover.
The RockinASkirt moniker comes from my fondness for the versatile, super flattering, incredibly practical sport skirt. I do everything in a skirt, from ironing our mountains of laundry to correcting school work and even during the combat sport training. Thanks to Beachbody I can don my skirts with authority!
I use the Beachbody programs to support my training and my addiction to really pretty workout clothes. (Have you seen the Athleta catalog? I can wear that stuff now!) I have been into combat sports for awhile and it was not until I used the Beachbody programs did my physique resemble the effort I put into training. Insanity was particularly helpful with my stamina and speed.

Fighting, fighting, fighting against one's body and image is so ridiculously common for women. I am the same with good and bad moments. The depressing part is that this nonsense started when I was eleven and I am now thirty-seven years old. That is a long time to be frustrated.
This constant annoyance became particularly vexing when I developed hypothyroidism and started having children. Up forty pounds very quickly, down forty pounds very slowly. This last time through seemed to have me beat. I combined kickboxing (with sparring), cardio bag classes, ultimate fitness classes, running, P90X, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I took all manner of supplements. No doubt I was fit but a plump fit at 30% body fat.
I gave up. I resigned myself to being the Nigella Lawson of martial arts; representing the bosomy and bottomy" in combat. She looked like she was having loads of fun being very, very plump. (Have you seen her eat chocolate cake in a satin robe?)
What is funny is that I only started Insanity because my husband gave up. Said it damn near broke his neck and back. See, Insanity was a gift to him for cardiovascular training. He hates to run. I did not want the money to go to waste. Magic, it is almost like magic except it is not trickery or sleight of hand. I never had it so hard. I have also never been 19% body fat before either. : )
