I hope through the following words that you will come to understand a little bit about me and my background. Please DO NOT hesitate to contact me with questions or a need for support. I am here for you!
I grew up in southern California as the oldest child of four. My father played Division 1 football in college and my mom has always been one of the best tennis players for her age group in the region. We were all competitive, outdoorsy, and driven.
Out of high school, I had a choice to play basketball or softball in college. I decided to play softball and became “one of the greatest hitters in the University of Notre Dame history”. After college, my athletic connections led me into coaching college softball. I coached all across the country as an assistant and a head coach: DePaul University, University of Northern Iowa, Indiana University, University of the Pacific, and San Diego State University. I was fortunate to work with some of the best coaches, administrators, and student-athletes in the country.
I LOVE working with athletes: • Inspiring them to be able to do things that are outside their current realm of possibility. • Goal setting – planning, dreaming, and envisioning – and then making a reality. • Working together to find the most efficient and effective path – the best process, the perfect form – to achieve the vision.
Currently, I own a private consulting business assisting high school athletes through the college recruiting process. I also provide softball skill development sessions on an individual or small group basis, and I work with a number of teams in the area, running their practice sessions and mentoring their coaches.
A year and a half ago, I was in the best shape of my life. Or so I thought. I trained to run the 10k Camp Pendelton Mud Run and after the race felt like I was on top of the world. I probably could have run a marathon with the energy I had left, but little did I know that my training had actually gravely affected my body. I had trained cardio with out core strength. I had done no lifting or core work.
A month or so after the race, while playing shortstop in co-ed slow pitch social softball; I pulled my sacroiliac tendon. This injury to the lumbar region of my back forced me down and out for at least three months. It was so bad that if affected my work. I was immobile. I could barely bend over to spit out toothpaste or to grab something off a table. And I was inactive. Although the pain was gone, once a few months had past, I had lost my inspiration and drive. I was frustrated and, to be honest, I was scared. I did not understand why this would happen during the peak of my fitness.
In the spring, I tweaked my back again. Then, I hurt my neck. Looking back, obviously there was weakness in my body but I did not see that at the time. In the fall, a year after the original injury, my back went out again but in a totally different way. This time it was not just a tendon, it was a spinal injury. I had to wear a brace for three months. I was forced to adjust how I worked, how I sat, and how I slept. I was so frustrated and at my wits end.
I had gained at least 20 pounds over the year of immobility and injury. I was not walking or sitting correctly. And I had absolutely NO stamina. SO I decided I needed drastic change.

I read in a magazine article that Jennie Garth from 90210 had used this program – P90x – to get ready for the new release of the show. I was intrigued and so I looked into it.
Now I am in my final Phase of P90X Round 1. The program has literally changed my life! I was at such a loss as to why these injuries all of a sudden where creeping up on me – at the exciting age of 35. Now I realize that it was my lack of strength that was allowing the cardio to breakdown my joints and to cause injury.
I also have always known how to coach others, but now P90x has opened the door for others to coach, assist, educate, and inspire me. In just 8 weeks, I have lost 9 pounds and 17.5 inches. I have lost 6.5 inches on my waist and 4 inches on my hips – that’s 10.5 inches off my core!
I became a Beach Body coach so I can give back to the community. I feel that the coaching skills and experience I have had throughout my life can be useful to the Beach Body family. And now I have such great enthusiasm for well-roundedness – strength and cardio fitness – and for the Beach Body products.
If you are interested in talking or just have a question to ask, please do not hesitate to drop me an email: sara@powerlineconsulting.net. Also, if you would like me to be your coach, be sure you contact me first as I am only allowed to contact you after you do so.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
Keep bringing it!!
It isn’t what coaches teach us through words that make us winners. It’s what they teach us by example. It’s what they teach us about life.
