All growing up, I never had a problem with weight. I was never thin, but I was a normal weight with a more athletic body type, but never toned. I did soccer growing up, then cheerleading and gymnastics in high school. My weight gradually increased through the years, but I still maintained a healthy weight throughout the years. I stayed active throughout college, but then I met my husband in grad school and things went downhill. I stopped working out and promptly gained 15 lbs, which is a lot on my 5'2.5" body frame!
I reached my highest weight ever (other than during pregnancy) in 2/2012 when my son was 16 months. I had lost all of my baby weight, but I was fatter than ever, especially in the mid-section. I had lost all of my muscle from a complete lack of exercise for more than 2 years. I stopped looking at my body in mirrors. I didn't allow pictures to be taken of myself that included my body. I was ashamed at how fat I looked.
So, in February 2012, I was inspired to set a goal for myself: 12 weeks of fitness, exercising 4-5 times/week. If I didn't see results (or receive feedback), I would stop. I committed to 3 days/week of Turbo Jam with 2 days/week of Bar Method.. and I rocked it. I got compliments at work after 11 weeks, and I still do now. I now work out 5-6 days/week, even on vacation. I just started Turbo Fire in August 2012 to get past my weight loss plateau. I'm currently looking forward to getting into the best shape of my life!
